Ah, ah, ah

Honestly, what will become of me?
Don't like reality
It's way too clear to me
But really, life is dandy
We are what we don't see
We miss everything daydreaming

Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Come to an end (end), come to an
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Come to an end (end), come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Traveling, I only stop at exits
Wondering if I'll stay (stay)
Young and restless
Living this way, I stress less
I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets in, and I don't cry
I only feel gravity, and I wonder why

Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Come to an end (end), come to an
Why do all good things come to an (end)
Come to an end (end), come to an
Why do all good things come to an

Well, the dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon, so that they could
Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon, so that they could
Die, die, die, die

Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Flames to dust (dust)
Lovers to friends (friends)
Why do all good things come to an end (end)?
Come to an end (end), come to an (end)
Why do all good things come to an (end)
Come to an end (end), come to an (end)
Why do all good things come to an

Well, the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should
Stay away for a day
'Til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling
And the clouds were dropping
And the rain forgot how to bring salvation
The dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
So that they could die

    Song Meaning

I think the song is an analysis of relationships in general. Whether it be friendships, or romantic relationships. I can personally relate to it as romantic relationships.

Honestly what will become of me don't like reality It's way too clear to me

(She's in a relationship and is happy but she's questioning what will become of her when it ends. She knows relationships don't last forever in reality and doesn't like that. It's way too clear to her because she's been there before).

But really life is daily We are what we don't see Missed everything daydreaming

(In reality life is lived on a daily basis, one day everything can be great and the next you can be heartbroken. In relationships we forget about reality because we're in love and daydreaming about the future. We're so caught up in the moment that we forget about the pain that comes in the end).

[Chorus:] Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to end? come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to an end?

(The chorus is very clear, in a relationships there's flames then dust. We're lovers then friends, why do all good things come to an end?)

Traveling I only stop at exits Wondering if I'll stay Young and restless Living this way I stress less

(I love this line, traveling I only stop at exits - She only stops in life for relationships that will soon end (exits). She keeps falling in love throughout her life wondering if she'll stay young and restless. She'd rather live this way because it's less stress to go through life falling in love than to be bitter and alone.

I want to pull away when the dream dies The pain sets in and I don't cry I only feel gravity and I wonder why

(When the dream dies and the relationship ends she wants to pull away - run away maybe?). The pain sets in but she can't cry because she been here too many times before. She only feels gravity and she wonders why. TO me the gravity reference is the feeling when you come down from the 'high' of love. Gravity pulls you back down to earth and reality and it hurts.

Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to end? come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were whistling a new tune Barking at the new moon Hoping it would come soon so that they could Dogs were whistling a new tune Barking at the new moon Hoping it would come soon so that they could Die die die die die

According to Lunar charts, the new moon is technically when there is no moon at all, after the occurrence of a waining moon. We all no that dogs like to bark at the moon. I personally see the dogs as her emotions and pain. They keep barking and she's waiting on a new moon (or no moon at all) so they'll stop barking so she can get some peace after the end of a relationship. I'm not sure about this but that's my take.

Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end Flames to dust Lovers to friends Why do all good things come to an end come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to end? come to an end come to an Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were barking at a new moon Whistling a new tune Hoping it would come soon And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day 'til the feeling went away

(She almost wants the sun to stay away so she can get on with getting closure on her relationship and then enjoy the sun - life - when she is really happy.

And the sky was falling and the clouds were dropping and the rain forgot how to bring salvation

I view this line as her tears. The rain forgot how to bring salvation. Her tears have dried up, she forgot how to cry which would give her some release - salvation).

the dogs were barking at the new moon Whistling a new tune Hoping it would come soon so that they could die.

That's just my analysis, I love the song and can certainly relate.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
