"Whatever We Want" as written by and Chad Smith Anthony Kiedis....
I stole your haircut
And your boring personality
The perfect pallette for a painting
Of morality
And now I come across without a loss
Of what to be
Add up the two of us and then
Subtract the one of me

Come meet your maker
A different kind of strain

I turn you into one
And then I turn you out for fun
Of earth and days and age
In fact you never were that dumb
Descended from a line
Of endless opportunities
I feel the mountain where you bring it from
Is gonna please

Come meet your maker
A different kind of strain
A sweet super-tanker
Oh won't it be great yeah

Chorus:
We can all do whatever we want
Whatever we want
Whatever we want
We can all do whatever we want to
We can all do whatever we want to

I'm dreamin' up the thing that no one
Ever knew was love
I get you higher than the hawks
Of Hollywood above
It's up for grab
The ragged stream of possibilities
To walk away from this could leave me
Feeling ill at ease

Come meet your maker
A different kind of strain
A sweet super-tanker
Oh won't it be great yeah

Chorus

Come meet your maker
A different kind of strain
A sweet super-tanker
Oh won't it be great yeah

Chrous

General Commentwow, I'm actually the first to comment on this song...
anyway, so here's what I think it's about: in the first verse he's basically saying that he's never really cared for that person,he wants to break up with her (add up the two of us and then subtract the one of me) but it doesn't seem to bother him all that much.

I feel the second verse is about how he played her (I turn you into one and then I turn you out for fun) but then he says "in fact you never were that dumb", so maybe she was aware of that.

I don't really know what the third verse means.

If I got the meaning wrong, please correct me, I'm really only guessing.

Love, peace, and always a breath mint when you need one,

General Commenti think this song is about yohanna logan one of his ex girlfriends. back in the californication days, he had short blond hair, so did she so that explains the first line. the "sweet super tanker" was because she was an addict and she could hold a lot of liquor. i'm not sure about the line "i turn you into one and then i turn you out for fun" it could be because he helped her get sober but then they relapsed together in a motel. i'm not too sure. as for the chorus i think it's talking about how now that they're broken up for good and forever, it doesn't matter what they do with their lives: they can do what they want. the "we" is anthony and yohanna. this is just what seems logical.

General Commenti think their are mistakes in the lyrics, i think it goes 'infact you never were that young' and 'i built a mountain will you bring it down and build a tree'

General Commentyeah i agree with antwan but i think this song should be listene to everytime you see someone you hate because you know that you're better than them haha it's just the first line that makes me think that but generally it is quite a hateful song

General Commenti think the line "I feel the mountain where you bring it from is gonna please"
    is actually
"I'll build a mountain will you bring it down and ruin it please"
    anyways i love this song
i agree i think its about yohanna
this song is on the same EP as million miles of water which is also about yohanna
im not sure if its about a breakup or relationship
or maybe just the relationship he had with her in general
its a great song all the same
