"Get Out Alive" as written by and Neil/gontier Sanderson....
No time for goodbye, he said
As he faded away
Don't put your life in someone's hands
They're bound to steal it away
Don't hide your mistakes
'Cause they'll find you, burn you
Then he said

If you want to get out alive
Run for your life
If you want to get out alive
Run for your life

This is my last time, she said
As she faded away
It's hard to imagine
But one day you'll end up like me
Then she said

If you want to get out alive
Oh oh run for your life
If you want to get out alive
Oh oh run for your life
If you want to get out alive (if you want to get out alive)
Oh oh run for your life (life)
If you want to get out alive (if you want to get out alive)
Oh oh run for your life

If I stay, it won't be long
Till I'm burning on the inside
If I go, I can only hope
That I make it to the other side
If you want to get out alive
Oh oh run for your life
If you want to get out alive
Hold on for your life

If you want to get out alive (if you want to get out alive)
Oh oh run for your life
If you want to get out alive (if you want to get out alive)
Hold on for your life

If I stay, it won't be long
Till I'm burning on the inside
If I go, I can only hope
That I make it to the other side
If I stay, it won't be long
Till I'm burning on the inside
If I go, if I go

Burning on the inside
Burning on the inside
Burning on the inside

My InterpretationThis song to me, it pretty much means that you should be yourself. You need to live your own life and you need to live it the way that you want to. You can't be afraid of consequences otherwise you'll only hurt yourself. And if you put your life in someone else's hands, you'll never be happy, because it's not your life if you're not the one living it.

General CommentHaha, wow I think I took this song way too literally.
I took it as, a man kidnaps or rapes a woman, she "runs for her life" and "gets out alive", then she is so traumatized that she begins abducting/torturing/killing people as well ("It's hard to imagine, but someday you'll end up like me.")
But, I think I've just been watching too many horror movies/Criminal Minds lately.
the drug addiction angle makes the most sense to me.

My InterpretationI think this song is about a person seeing every one they know living a life they couldn't bear to live. They see every one around them Lose there joy and fade away into nothing. Even though this person knows staying were they are will eat them away or make them burn on the inside they also know there isn't a good chance of them being able to servive any were else. I think it's a song about being traped and your only hope is barely hope it's just a slim shot.

General Commentguys, the song is about using Heroin, i should know i am an x junkie.......listen to the lyrics,

"No time for goodbye, he said
    As he faded away"

he just took a shot and is about to nod out.....

"Don't put your life in someone's hands
They're bound to steal it away
    Don't hide your mistakes
Cause they'll find you, burn you
    Then he said"

they could have mixed it wrong and you could end up dead (a real fear because all dope is different and you never know the mix you got till you do it)

"This is my last time, she said
    As she faded away
    It's hard to imagine
But one day you'll end up like me
    Then she said"

yea i can't tell you how many times me and my girl said that, next lol

"If I stay, it won't be long
Till I'm burning on the inside
If I go, I can only hope
That I make it to the other side"

basically if i don't do the dope, it won't be long before i start withdraw (note to all users do not do dope withdraw is terrible, worse thing in my life i ever had to experience)
    "
IF i go i can only hope to make it to the other side"
he is saying if he does the shot, he can only hope to live thru it......my girl and i used to say "see you on the other side" before we did the deed.....

i could go on but you guys get the point.....take it from an x junkie (165 days clean today!) the song is about Heroin use and the lyrics completely support that!

NOTE: PLEASE NOBODY DO THAT HORRIBLE DRUG IT DAMN NEAR TOOK ME TO ROCK BOTTOM AND IT WILL DO IT TO YOU TOO!!!

General CommentThe song sounds like a dream almost, with people talking to him that "fade away"...that's probably not it but it just reminds me of a dream or something, with the music and lyrics..

General CommentI don't know to me this song is about some one seeing a life being lived bye others that they couldn't stand to live. To me they are seeing the lives and joy of others fading without so much as good by and realizing life will be no different for them if they don't get out. Even through all this they see even if they do get out there is no real hope of making it. So I guess you could relate it to a feeling of being hopelessly traped.
