My heart has lost it's wind now
Broken like a dead sail
My love has drifted out to sea
My body has been claimed
Soul has been shipped away
Can't feel the sand between my toes

We set the wrong course
And headed due north
That's where we went wrong
We were young and learning
Steady hearts hate turning
That's where we went wrong

My will to fight has been flushed
Seized like blank babies faces
The water line begins to rise
Let the tide swallow me whole
Like morning light in windows
Let that dark water take me home

We set the wrong course
And headed due north
That's where we went wrong
We were young and learning
Steady hearts hate turning
That's where we went wrong

Hey come back to me
Hey come back to me
Hey come back to me
Baby, come back to me

Hey come back to me (ba ba da, ba ba ba)
Hey come back to me (ba ba da, ba ba ba)
Hey come back to me (ba ba da, ba ba ba)
Baby, come back to me (ba ba da, ba)

Hey come back to me
Hey come back to me
Hey come back to me
Baby, come back to me

(ba ba da, ba ba ba)
(ba ba da, ba ba ba)
Hey come back to me(ba ba da, ba ba ba)
Baby, come back to me

We set the wrong course
And headed due north
That's where we went wrong
We were young and learning
Steady hearts hate turning
That's where we went wrong

I really liked this song. The B part with the "Hey, Come Back To Me" was amazing. I think this is saying how these people thought they were doing the right thing but were on the "wrong course" and now have gone too far, and need to come back. The power chords are really simple, and yet it sounds so beautiful.

This song is about a girl and a guy who were in a relationship when they were young and naive as to how to have a relationship last. They love each other, but just took the wrong course in their relationship. They're speaking back to the time when they were young, and they're old enough as they sing to understand where they went wrong, and they want to go back to each other.

All I know is that every time I hear, "We were young and learning. Steady hearts hate turning. That's where we went wrong," I think of how when kids are younger, and they pull themselves into something like love, or serious relationships, or anything of the sort, things can change. And something being altered, even in any type of relationship, friends too, you can get really uncomfortable and really scared and things start to fall/drift apart. Every time I hear that part. Every time.

Obviously, it's about a relationship that went sour. I like this song very much, but it reminds me of old people dancing. Nevertheless, Bob's high voice is AMAZING! (you know, at the end)

The Man returns to his dream, only to find from the ghosts that The Woman has left. The Man then realizes he's fallen in love with The Woman, and begs to get her back.

I like the first part of this, it sounds real distant and lonely.

Obviously, it's about a relationship that went wrong. I think it went wrong because they jumped into things way too fast. Possibly, their relationship became based on sex. "My body has been claimed, Soul has been shipped away." And they lost the emotional connection.

I LOVE THE "HEY, COME BACK TO ME" SECTION!

This is my favorite song off of Like Vines.

Oh, and that's not Bob singing the high part. It's Darren. Unless I'm mistaken.

And the "Hey come back to me" section could be like them trying to rediscover their emotional connection to each other to fix the relationship. They realize their relationship has become based on sex and they're trying to fall in love with each other again.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
