"From Off to On" as written by Karin Elizabeth Dreijer Andersson and Olof Bjorn Dreijer....
We can not wait much longer
We want happiness back
We want control of our bodies
Everything we've lacked
I think I even liked it
If the feeling was mine
A little something about my body
Is it the warmth inside

When we come home, we want it quiet and calm
We want you to sing us a song
When we come home, we pull the curtains down
Making sure that the TV is on

If you move a little closer
I'll tell you what's my aim
It's every evening on a big screen
Hosted by celebrities
I had a dream about deleting and killer whales
Is it the feeling of your body
Or is it the feeling of mine

When we come home, we want it quiet and calm
We want you to be around
When we come home, we pull the curtains down
Making sure that the TV is on

From off to on
From off to on

it basically says on there about tv addicts, which i assume this song is about.

i love all of the knifes lyrics, hence, why this is my faviourite band, so cold and dark and beautiful.

General CommentFor some reason, this is my favourite song on the album, (and considering its one of the best albums I've ever heard, thats a lot to say for me...) even though I hate TV lol.
People say the Knife are dark and cold a lot....I don't get that. They're cold, maybe, but in the same way that winter morning is cold. Its a new type of cold, its harsh yet welcoming. Coming to think of it, there's so many contradictory things that can be said about these two. Suffice to mention, they are the greatest band of all time for me

General CommentThis song is weirdly (and maybe darkly) funny. It seems to be about television watching, consumer culture, mass media, and alienation from one's own body and physical sensation. I think it's touching on how messed up the lifestyle of going to work and then coming home and watching television in a constant cycle is. There might be a stultified relationship somewhere in there too.

General Comment"deleting and killer whales" Sounds a lot like "litres and kilograms" to me. I know that's not what the booklet says, but just listen to it.

I don't really see this about TV watching. I just get like... images of maybe two lovers, or maybe two kids that are home without parents... just being at home, sleeping on the couch with the lights off and dreaming with the TV on in the background.

General CommentI partially agree with Kennelsworth. It seems to be about someone who is maybe overweight, or maybe just lazy, who works all day and then comes home to fall asleep in front of the TV. This person wants more than anything to get away from the endless repetition, but decides night after night that it's okay for just a little while longer. They can just tune out and forget the feeling of emptiness as long as they focus on the screen.

I think, though, that when they're addressing someone else (We want you to sing us a song), they're talking to the TV. I don't think they have any relationships outside of work.

General CommentYeah, I agree with naerogah.
The first verse is pretty obscure. Like I can relate, but I don't understand, contradictory as that sounds.

"From Off to On"...as in the body goes from off to on in sync with the TV? The individual needs television to feel turned on?

General CommentLooking at the lyrics I see that this isn't really right, but just from the words I could pick out by listening, I always thought the song was about parents who get home after work and just dump their children in front of the TV so they get some peace and quiet.

My Opinionobsession with media & consumer culture seems valid.

I like to think it's about a recluse, or someone who withdraws from their current surroundings.. using film to fantasize about where they COULD be.

in short, I like to think it's about escapism.
