It's too late, baby, there's no turning around
I've got my hands in my pocket and my head in a cloud
This is how I do when I think about you
I never thought that you could break me apart
I keep a sinister smile and a hole of my heart
You want to get inside
Then you can to get in line
But not this time

'Cause you caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine

I won't try to philosophize
I'll just take a deep breath
Then I'll look in your eyes
This is how I feel and it's so so real
I got a closet filled up to the brim
With the ghosts of my past and the skeletons
And I don't know why
You'd even try
But I won't lie

You caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine
Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?

And I feel a weakness coming on
Never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lock down
And then you turned me around
I'm feeling like a new born child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated
I was so jaded

And you caught me off guard
Now I'm running and screaming
I feel like a hero and you are my heroine
Do you know that your love is the sweetest sin?

And I feel a weakness coming on
Never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lock down
And then you turned me around

Now I'm feeling like a new born child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated
I was so jaded

And I feel a weakness coming on
Never felt so good to be so wrong
Had my heart on lock down
And then you turned me around
Now I'm feeling like a new born child
Every time I get a chance to see you smile
It's not complicated

    Song Meaning

i always thought (and still do) that it was "i keep a sinister smile and a hole in my heart.." not hold of my heart... makes more sense to me... because i feel like the song is about a guy who had a girl and now he lost her suddenly ("you caught me off guard") now hes going crazy and would do anything for her and just wants to go to her. (now im running and screaming) and he feels amazing when hes with her and things were great. (i feel like a hero, and youre my heroine) he was so sick of just going into relationships and them not being great, but when he was with her things were amazing (i was so jaded). and her love is the sweetest sin because it feels so right that he felt like there was something sinful. but really he just loved her entirely. theres no chance letting her get away, he already knows how incredible she is and theres no way he'll ever let her go (its too late baby theres no turning around). hes not going to try to explain everything with a long thought out answer on why she should take him back (i wont try to philosophize) hes just going to give it to her straight (ill take a deep breath and ill look in your eyes) he has had a long past of bad girlfriends and secrets (closet filled up to the brim... skeletons) and hes happy that she doesnt judge him for any of it.(dont know why you'd even try)... sorry i kinda jumped aroound the song a little, but thats how i read it, but thats also exactly whats going on in my life so thats what i want the song to be about. thanks :)

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Word Alive, The
This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
