"Start The Machine" as written by and Thomas Delonge....
The ash set in then blew away
It's getting lost into the sea
I grew so close to all the thoughts I had, to leave forever
I left the chill and voice, the screams in kids, and ran for shelter

You know I won't say sorry
Do you know I won't say sorry?
The pain has a bad reaction
A blend of fear and passion
Do you know what it's like to believe?
It makes me wanna scream

I see a glow from far away
A faint reflection on the sea
I left some words quite far from here to be a sure reminder
I laid them out in stone in case they need to last forever

You know I won't say sorry
Do you know I won't say sorry?
The pain has a bad reaction
A blend of fear and passion
Do you know what it's like to believe?
It makes me wanna scream

I see the stars, they're in your eyes
A playful kiss kept undecided
I'm fast asleep in the nick of time
You lost your wish, I can't help you find it
I'm on my knees to sworn the start
A fresh new start to be undecided

If love's the word, that you say
You say it, I will listen

General Commenttheres much to analyze about this song. but i only feel compelled to leave a note about how Tom explained it...

during their show, he started talking about how he was in this band called blink 182. and how he didnt want to discuss what happened, but that here was this song called "start the machine"

the song has clear intentions about the break up of blink.

on a side note, on their set list, it called this song "restart the machine." didnt understand why.

General CommentFrom Kerrang!: The song starts with the toy piano playing a tune then a slow pounding drum beat and a heavy bass guitar line with distortion kicks in.

DeLonge: "This is the last song on the album. I always take my daughter to this ice-cream place. Next door is a toy shop and they had a pink toy piano in there. It sounded so good, so I bought it. The very next day I put it in my shower and played that part. I pictured being on a boat and as you're leaving a city in flames, you see a tropical island, like you're going to a beautiful place. I make references to my past in this song - 'I left the chill and voice of screams and kids and ran for shelter'. In leaving the desolation and negativity behind, you find something beautiful."

as said by Tom people. I personally love this song, and couldn't for shit tell you what the song's about. Although i do love the chorus.. you know... i won't say SOrray...

General CommentThis is easily my favorite song from the album.

Now, I have no experience with interpreting lyrics or whatnot. Just so you all know.

One thing that kinda stuck out though were the lyrics: "I see the stars, they're in your eyes. A playful kiss, can you tell I'm excited? A fast escape in the nick of time. If you've lost your wish, can I help you to find it? I'm on my knee, just one to start, a fresh new start, don't be undecided. If love is a word that you say, then say it, I will listen." It makes me think of someone proposing, what with the being on one knee, not being undecided, and "a fresh new start."

General Commenti just came back from the ava concert and right before the song he was talking about blink and was like telling how he didnt want to explain why they broke up so heres a song about it. So this song is about the breakup of blink
