In the middle of an apple orchard
There’s a small boy
Watching bees in the blossoms
In the middle of an apple orchard
There’s two boys
Climbing trees
In the middle of an apple orchard
There’s six boys
Making underground tunnels
In the middle of an apple orchard
There’s ten boys
Throwing apples at each other

General CommentI think it's just a reminiscence about the good old days. The actual song is slightly incogrous, coming as it does on the album containing otherwise a clutch of throwaway lines.

General CommentReminds me of William Carlos Williams, Rudyard Kipling and Dylan Thomas rolled into one. Very lyrical and utterly poetic.
