"Ancients" as written by Gary Anthony James Webb and Andy Gray....
All I know is you're not with me,
Like me.
All I know...
You're not with me.

Some can shine,
Some can fly,
Some are glorious,
Some are ancient.

Some are wise,
Some are strong,
Some are everything
You could dream of.

Some are clouds,
Some are rain,
Float like angel wings
On an ocean.

Some can sing
Songs of Gods,
Words so beautiful
They fall like raindrops.
Fall like raindrops.
Fall like raindrops.

But none are like me,
All I know is you're not with me,
Like me.
All I know is you're not with me.
All I know is you're not with me,
Like me.
All I know is you're not with me.

Some will cry,
Cry for you,
Take your pain away
When you're sleeping.

Some will die,
In your name,
Give their soul to you
For safe keeping.

All I know is you're not with me,
Like me.
All I know...
All I know is that you're not with me,
Like me. (x3)
All I know is that you're not with me.
You're not with me. (x4)

General CommentA great example of Gary trying to expound of the concept of "Gods" or forces/beings on a separate plane than us. The different "powers" they might possess. The subtle ways that they might affect our lives/universe.

I like the lines "Some will die/In your name/Give their soul to you/For safe keeping". I like the way Gary turns the "god" concept around and puts the listener into the "godly" position. They die in YOUR name, and give THEIR soul to YOU for safe keeping. Nice twist.

    Oh, and a beautiful song.

General CommentYep, this really is a beautiful song. I agree with damrat on the meaning. There's an early version of the song which I think was on the Crazier CD set, the lyrics are slightly different but the meaning of the song wasn't changed. The strings in this song are mind-blowing.
