Mould me, human clay
Brokencutaway
Using me puppet strings
still born (I'm still born), without wings
broken wings
I've ruptured, the fragile sea
taken a life you steal
Embryoand always too (always too)
when building blocks, fall down on you
without wings your without wings
why wont you find the reasons why
your without wings your without wings
smashing all your precious things
your ruining (x4) me
I don't bleed without you
Trauma, my mistake
ending are we made to break
new threshold the more you wait
I'm breathing under water (x7)
without wings your without wings
why wont you find the reasons why
your without wings your without wings
smashing all your precious things
your ruining (x4) me
I don't bleed without you
precious things
without wings
if I'm dreaming your awake is it real
inside me sickness mine to take
yours to feel
u cocoon inside your own
temperate stain
breathing new life into my lungs
your not breathing
your without your without wings you left me here
you precious things your precious things you broken, broken

"Was the result of Kurt jamming nothing in particular and Clint picking up on a something he could hear in it. As he usually does he asked Kurt to play it again and straight away sang the verse vocal line over it. It was this section (the verse) that whole song was then written around. The drum groove was an idea that Ben had been messing around with for some time and it seemed to fit the into the context of the song. It wasn't a song that we wanted to refine so much, but more a song that we could indulge a little on. We wrote the section between the 1st and 2nd verse to sound up lifting and then decided to add the Piano and string parts to help achieve this. In the middle section we added a gong, chimes and the sounds of smashing glass because, well, basically because we could! "

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
