Liberty and justice for those who can afford it
There's American sheets on the deathbed
And American bombs in the sky
American ghosts in the graveyard
The American heart beats in the TV
One nation above God himself
There's American fangs on the serpent
And American blood on his tie
American pride in his heartstrings
American venom drips from the TV
He who controls the all-seeing eye
Would rather kill than live in peace
We are monsters in the eyes of the world
Divided while we conquer

i think its talkin about the many unworthy leaders of America ('for those who can afford it'-- usually the candidates with the most money and popularity win) and negative media (like tv) and how its destroying and desperately bringing America as a society to a lower level. 'One nation above God himself'-- how America's been slowly shutting God out of society and life (as if we dont need him or that we're above him)

'American sheets on the deathbed' -- if you live by what's become the widely accepted American lifestyle (without God), you're gonna die spiritually

this is what i get out of it

    Dan's not a communist.

I think it's just about what Satan H8er said.

If you watch the video on Zao's homepage Dan says that this is attacking how we think we are better than everyone else and that we are invincible. It's to bring us down to the level we are really at. The first line is Liberty and justice for those who can afford it, meaning only people who have money can buy there liberty and freedom its not directly attacking politics. So watch the video and hear what Dan says.

Oh man I totally forgot what Dan said in the vid. But it's simple to notice when you think about the lyrics more deeper than just read them once.

I think its about the arrogance of most americans, and we tend to put ourselves before God. They are definatley not commies. But I dont agree with allot of there politics, but they still rock.

    Song Meaning

Satan is the one that controls the all-seeing eye, the same symbol above the pyramid on the american dollar bill. Thats on the dollar bill because the people that are running the country/world are satanic. we are the new slaves for those at the top that can afford liberty and justice. These people at the top control all major new stations to brain wash the public. thats why the american heart beats in the tv. you hear what they want you to hear and nothing else. in the past 60 years the US military has conducted "peace" operations in over 160 countries. more war now than ever in recorded history. thats the american bombs are in the sky. the american blood on the tie is about these people at the top killing their own american citizens for their own agenda. particularly 9/11. research it...zeitgeist 9/11 on youtube. if you believe osama bin ladin was the monster that masterminded that, then watch that video and open your eyes. this song is about the people at the top that want a new world order. the illuminati.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
