"Razzle Dazzle Rose" as written by and Tracyanne Campbell....
Rose, I'm feeling older
I was as lucky as a four-leaved clover
I tried to be happy it wasn't easy
When I choose my color it will be Razzle Dazzle Rose

Rose, I'm feeling older
Courage my love it makes me bolder
Expecting softness can lead to foolishness
When I choose my color it will be Razzle Dazzle rose

General CommentThe first thing that came to mind when I read the lyrics was the book "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey. it's about James Frey recovering from a decade of drug addiction. In the rehabilitation center, he is given a workbook by his counselor, and he reminisces about razzle dazzle rose being his favorite color when he was a child.

Not sure if the song is directly related, but there are a lot of similarities.

General Commentthe best part of this song is clearly the fact that they're singing about a flourescent crayola crayon colour available from 1990-1992. it totally reminds me of elementary school, and i love that. it was my favourite crayon!

General CommentSomeone once told me that this song suited me somehow. I had never heard it. Of course, I checked it out and now this is one of my favourite bands. Their sound is so melancholy and beautiful. It makes me feel nostalgic or something :)

General CommentI guess the song is about growing up, things changing. The singer is 'trying' to be happy, but isn't.

"Expecting softness can lead to foolishness"

My interpretation of this line is that the singer put their faith in a friend or lover, by trusting them. The singer was then hurt/betrayed. The song gives me the a feeling of nostalgia.

General CommentThe most beautiful song about death in the world. I think the James Frey book is a coincidence but an apt one- it was definitely the favorite crayon for many. "When I choose my color" implies the narrator choosing to describe or paint her (or his) life at the end of it. The only way to come close is razzle dazzle rose.

The mariachi horn at the end feels like walking into the white light. The bass line and the light snare drums during the intro and throughout are wonderful.
