I want to live,
I want to give
I've been a miner
for a heart of gold.
It's these expressions
I never give
That keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

I've been to Hollywood
I've been to Redwood
I crossed the ocean
for a heart of gold
I've been in my mind,
it's such a fine line
That keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
Keeps me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.

Keep me searching
for a heart of gold
You keep me searching
for a heart of gold
And I'm getting old.
I've been a miner
for a heart of gold.

General CommentThis was written by Neil Young, but Johnny once again applies one of his greatest gifts as a singer, he makes the song his own! Listening to a song in John's comforting basso is more like hearing a friend tell a story then listening to a song. He did many covers in his last years, and did them well and memorably. Rest well, John, you are very missed.
