"The Worst Taste In Music" as written by and Johan Duncanson....
He can't forget you
You're quite a find
In my mind I see how he gets you
To close your eyes
Kiss the skies

You race down the stairs in the morning
A kiss in half promise, half warning

Why would you bother to hang around?
Even for some time, now
There will be others to frown upon
If it turns you on

But he's got the worst taste in music
If I didn't know this I'd lose it

But he's got the worst taste in music
If I didn't know this I'd lose it

My InterpretationI think this song is about jealousy. The narrator of the song is in a relationship with a girl who is seeing her ex boyfriend. "He can't forget you, you're quite a find" speaks about how her ex boyfriend wants her back, and even though the narrator knows that the girl does not want her ex boyfriend back, he feels jealous and can't help thinking about the two of them together. "In my mind I see how he gets you to close your eyes"

"A kiss is half promise, half warning" I think this is about how the girl tries to reassure him that she does not want her ex back, as in, she is giving him a kiss to promise him nothing is going to happen but also to warn him not to become jealous.

The narrator is asking himself why his girlfriend is seeing her ex, "Why would you bother to hang around?" Because to him, she could hang out with any other guy "There will be others to frown upon, if it turns you on", but the fact that she is seeing her ex is killing him. The narrator feels inferior to her ex boyfriend and is afraid that she might go back to him, but to console himself he is thinking of the little things that makes him feel better "But he's got the worst taste in music If I didn't know this I'd lose it".

That's literally one of the saddest things I've ever heard in all of music. It's about how someone he loves, maybe even lost and used to be with, is with a guy who is absolutely perfect in every way, and they make a terrific couple and the only fault he can manage to find in this guy is that he likes terrible music. The narrator clings to this one flaw because the idea of her being happy and with this perfect being in place of him is just devastating.

General Commenti think it's about one of those love triangle situations. the persona understands why the other guy likes the girl he's interested in, and he also understands how he gets her to like him. and it bothers him to no end, and his only consolation is that "he's got the worst taste in music".

to cleo 23: i think that it means that the persona thinks that his interest gets satisfaction from feeling superior over her companion, as to why the other guy's "worst taste in music" is also a factor in why she hangs around him. maybe the persona also thinks himself inferior to her as well, but in other areas as opposed to "taste in music", as to why the line "there will be others to frown upon", maybe he's somewhat pleading to her to "frown upon" him instead.

    just my interpretation.

General CommentI felt the same about a boy. Sometimes we belive that a person is really made for us and we don't understand why he/she's choosing someone else. Especially if the other person has a terrible taste in music or in everything.
