"Throw it All Away" as written by Henry Binns, Sam Hardaker, Sia Kate I. Furler and Dedi Madden....
Try talking to you
While you do, while you do
I swap places with you
Just to see things through
Just sing me the tune
And you'll see
I'll keep it here for you
I'll wait for your cue

You wrote down all the words
Black and white
On a wall
Just keepin' it so
Yeah you know how it goes
No plans for a change, nothing strange
No not today no way
Now sing me the tune

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

So you twist and you turn
Uncomfortable fool, you'll never learn
But you can take a stand
Forget all about the plans California rose

Side one track two
On a record of you
I've even stuck on a groove
That I don't wanna lose
Just play it again, as a friend
It's your favorite worn-in shoes
Now sing me the tune

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway

So you crash, and you burn
Sometimes the road will twist and turn
Some of this, less of that
Forget all about the map California road

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away, yeah
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

Cash it in and throw it all away
Never needed any of it anyway

General CommentI feel like this song is about having your future planned and then someone comes into your life and it all changes. Although it seems like a bad idea to cash in and give all your plans up, I think this person is content with the decision to do so. I think that the person is probably in a new relationship where he/she is still starry eyed and willing to give up a piece of who he/she is because they're so set on being with this person or crush. By the writer saying "Never needed any of it anyway" shows that they are maybe tryin to justify the fact that they are giving up some personal goals and dreams for something/someone else.

General CommentI'm suprised no one's commented, i love this song. I'm not sure about the meaning behind it, i kinda think of 'cashing' in all your plans and 'throwing' them away, and instead living in the moment instead of trying to live through someone else. The tune is v.catchy and i like the cheery rythym of the first two verses

General CommentYeah, I was also suprised that no one had commented until you, Jessops. I'm also very happy to see that I am not alone in adoring this song.

General CommentI could be totally wrong, but I sorta get this feeling that the song is about someone writing a song about something that at some time or another is rather meaningful to the writer. The speaker of the song is a friend sorta egging them on to do this, to write the song, even if the person writing doesn't want to. They are pushing them to write it down, even saying they will finish it for them. My guess is they are hoping for a hit and it does become one, even though they sell out because of it. They "throw away" their integrity, but hey, they have the money. Love the song.

General CommentThis song is fun. It reminds me of the dead of summer, like mid-July. Its also a great song for summer drives. The whole album is wonderful, one of my best impulse purchases ever.

General CommentI think it's about someone who's afraid to make any changes in their monotonous life, and the singer is trying to encourage them to "forget all about the map" and take some chances for one.

General CommentThis is my first Zero 7 song and now I am a fan of all their music. I especially love their infectious instrumental grooves. But there is something about this song and its still my all time favorite Zero 7 song.

I am not sure about what the lyrics mean but I think there's a little bit of mystery to every great lyric.

I think the other people posting have pretty much nailed it, though.
