I huff gasoline from your shirt
and blur the questions that no one could ever answer
I empty my head of all that I know
seems like the best view is the one from below

we are anti-movements, we are anti-anti
one time we believed but now we dont even try
and I cant cut a rug, without my fashion drugs
inebriation leads revelation

gettin down in the town that makes no sound
you say there's nothing wrong but I dont hear it

I will burn your love letters in a parking deck
where I have harbored great things that I will never confess
we keep fresh paint on the countenance
now we keep it simple but make it more complex

we are anti-movements, we are anti-anti
one time we believed but now its passé and cliché
and she'll say anything to make you move again
but is it the truth? I dont care if it is

General Commentthis song is actually really sad. these are people who are so disillusioned with live, dreams, anything this life has to offer.. the arent idealists fighting for change OR the old guard still in charge, they're just dropping out of regular society and doing a lot of drugs. and they cant even dance without getting some drugs in them first. so, very sad. good song.

General CommentThis is so amazing with the melody and the flowing of the song. the lyrics are even better now i can read them - it seems to me as if it has a slight melancholy underlining to it but it is generally ace!!!

General Commenti think its about being in love with someone, and at one point, they believe in fighting causes that made them feel alive, then at one time, they stopped fighting, and when they did, they became anti-anti. maybe the girl left him for someone else, or went back to someone else, and but he knows what she actually believes in, and he'll knows she'll tell the other guy anything to make him move again, but he knows what the actually truth to her is, and what makes her, HER. ALSO, the line "seems like the best view is the one from below", is actually a taoist teaching, but you know, it can be anything else, but thats one of the main concepts of it. i agree with wildflower29561, *they*life, *life* they. i'm surprised i havn't heard this on the radio, i wouldn't be surprised to hear them on the radio soon.

General Commentalso at the end of the song

    theres lots of

    "so"
    "so"
    "so", etc

    then it goes into saying

"Will you turn me around, will you turn me around, oh"

General Commenti used to think the line "fashion drugs" was about actual drugs, but sometimes when i listen to it, and i think about what their talking about, and the things they seem to stand for, especially for being "anti" at some time, they might be talking about how fashion inebriates people. or he realizes who he is by getting inebriated, but he also realizes the town or place that he is, doesn't make sound, everyone is so complacent and quiet, and he knows he can make a difference by not being like everyone else. and maybe he wants the girl the song is about to realize this about him, and doesn't want her to fall into the same pattern. whether its fashion or drugs, or maybe both. but in "between the rent and me" he talks about getting high at the bus stop.
