"Especially in Michigan" as written by and Chad G Smith Michael Peter Balzary....
Life is my friend
Rake it up to take it in
Wrap me in your cinnamon
Especially in Michigan
Well I could be your friend

White clouds I'm in
A mitten full of fisherman
C'mon huckleberry finn
Show me how to make her grin
Well I'm in Michigan

Cry me a future
Where the revelations run amok
Ladies and gentlemen
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck

A rainy Lithuanian
Who's dancing as an Indian
Painted in my tiger skin
Especially in Michigan

Double chins and bowling pins
Unholy Presbyterians
Land is full of medicine
I find it when I'm slipping in

The tainted new librarian (into Michigan)
Who fainted when she tucked you in
Let's float away like zeppelins
On stoic gusts of northern wind

Cry me a future
Where the revelations run amok
Ladies and gentlemen
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck

Out on the farm we'll be
Swimming with the mother duck
Deep in the mitten where
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck

Life is my friend
Underwater violins
Order now from ho chi min
A porcelain that comes in twins

Throw me in the looney bin
'Cause I can take it on the chin (when I'm in Michigan)
The cleavage of your pillow skin
Is moving like a violin

Cry me a future
Where the revelations run amok
Ladies and gentlemen
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck

Out on the farm we'll be
Swimming with the mother duck
Deep in the mitten where
Lions and tigers come running
Just to steal your luck, yeah

General Commenti dont thing red hot has an album that sucks. all of their music is unique and perfect in its own way. you can tell by their music what they were going thru at that time. especially in michigan is an awsome song especially becuase i am from michigan and i am going to be living in grand rapids in a couple of weeks and if you are a red hot fan you have to read Scar Tissue. its the best book i have ever read and it tells all of the meanings behind their songs so you dont have to bullshit what you think they were talking about.

General CommentThis song is amazing, I heard it today blown and I was shocked. As a Michigan resident when I heard "Lions and tigers come running" It killed me. Detroit Lions and Tigers if you missed it.

Double chins and bowling pins commenting on Michigans status as a "fat state"

General CommentIncase anybody is wondering, the solo is the guitarist from The Mars Volta (Omar something or other.), a band The Peppers have featured with many times. Also, did anybody catch the "mother duck" part? AK's mom lives in Michagin.

Guess it refers to Anthony, since his great-grandfather is from from Lithuania and his mother got some Mohican blood.

General CommentI agree with alnervik. Besides, Anthony was born in michigan, and his mother does live there. He often spend the christmas with his family in michigan... plus, RHCP recorded Freaky Styley there too.... it's an important place for the chili...

General CommentThe 3rd (final chorus) is incredible...between Keidis's voice, a great fuzz/distortion sounding guitar, and an awesome solo...its perfect

General CommentWow, I totally missed the sports reference, thanks for that one. I guess it helps to be a resident, haha. Too bad nobody has any reason to write a song about New Hampshire, haha. But yah, the bit about the Detroit Lions and Tigers is very helpful.

General CommentI missed BOTH the sports and the "fat state" references and I AM a Michigan resdident (but not born here). Wow, uh. I guess the "just to steal your luck" part has something to do with the Lions and Tigers not being too lucky, as in they aren't very good teams right now. Thank god for the Pistons and the Red Wings.

The northern winds, and the mitten references...

General CommentOh, does the beginning remind anyone else of "Edmund Fitzgerald," at about nine seconds in and beyond? I don't know why, but listening to the song, I just thought "Edmund Fitzgerald."

General CommentThis song is so beautiful. I think it's about how one should enjoy life to the fullest, it's sweet but strong (cinnamon). It's like in Michagen he's in heaven; it's his childhood and her smile and his future. Anyone can life there, and it's really dreamy! he makes it seem that u can get away from anything there.. it's his perfect medacine. people make mistakes, they aren't innocent. you can't always hear the beautiful music of life but it's there.. michagen is his heaven, i don't know if it really exists, sort of a deamy ideal world.. he grew up there though... he did drugs there and rehab...
