Time stands too still
Left you there for the kill
But this hope that sorrow bleeds
Leaves a man with nothing

There's just no mercy in your eyes
There ain't no time to set things right
And I'm afraid I've lost the fight
I'm just a painful reminder
Another day you leave behind

Love grows a fear
Suites your taste of bitter ends
But this stake that holds you in
Leaves no place to begin

There's just no mercy in your eyes
There ain't no time for selling lies
And I'm afraid I've lost the fight
I'm just a painful reminder
Another day you leave behind

Words seem so blind
I've been pushed far aside
To my choice seems too small
Any move and I could fall

There's just no mercy in your eyes, child
There ain't no time to set things right
And I'm not preaching to the choir
I'm just a painful reminder
And you're a fool to satisfy

General CommentI really love this song too.
I think this song is about becoming jaded about relationships but, even more so, craving broken relationships . Even the way it is sung and the tune are, although beautiful, very dull, dreamy and lacking enthusiasm...a sense of hopelessness.
    "Love grows a fear

The subject (she?) is drawn to failed love but hates it at the same time. This makes it impossible to have a relationship with her because she is not only unforgiving due to past lovers (no mercy) but the singer just doesn't have any more will to fight

anyways thats my take on it but all in all, great song and i love the lyrics

General Commentthey improv an extra part @ the end of the song live:

    yeah and so
    why can't you see child
    why won't you feel love
    I'm on my knees

    yeah and on
    why won't you speak child
    why can't you dream on
    I'm on my knees

    yeah and so on
    why won't you see child
    why can't you feel love
    I'm on my knees
    I'm right here for you

General CommentBRMC are the one of the few bands left who have a truly original sound. This song is just....gah....elleon is right. its fucking amazing. if you've never listened to BRMC before, then you need to dorp everything and go now. To me this song is about that whole idea of being left behind but still being there, in view of everyone who's left you, and still sticking to your guns. BRMC are my heroes.

TranslationBrilliant song, wonder if this is about a father that wasn't there and shows up after time to realize there's no hope in setting things right with his child...
