General CommentWow, I figured this song would have way more comments. Since Gladiator was an amazing movie in my opinion and since this song is very well noted everywhere else I go.

From what I've found and heard, since many people have tried to translate the song. It's a made up language that I guess only Enya knows the meaning of, it's just a very beautiful song.

General CommentFor me, besides the meaning of the lyrics (some say it is a combination of latin, african, hebrew and others), it is what I feel when I listen it: It seems to me like an
acknowledgment to someone that has faced very hard moments and, in spite of that, has alwas act with honour and dignity. And now he (she) has the best gift he (she) can ask for: "now we are free". An amazing song that fits exactly with the movie.

General Commentok this song isn't by Enya...its by Lisa Gerrard...just look at the CD. So many people confuse this song with enya...understandable, but just wanted to be correct.

p.s. amazing song...takes me to another place....

General CommentI'm really surprised there's only a few comments as well :x I have the translations, but I'm not sure how accurate they are. It's such a bittersweet song...

    Translation:

    Almighty Freedom
    Almighty freer of the soul
    Be free
    Walk with me
    Through the golden fields
    So lovely
    Lovely
    We regret our sins, but..
We sew our own fate and
Under my face I remain feeble
    Under my face, I smile.
    Ahhhh...
    Even alone (or afraid)
Under my face I will be waiting
Run with me now soldier of Rome
Run and play in the field with the ponies.
Run with me now soldier of Rome
Run and play in the field with the ponies.
Run with me now soldier of Rome
Run and play in the field with the ponies.
Run with me now soldier of Rome
Run and play in the field with the ponies.
    Almighty Freedom
    Almighty freer of the soul
    Be free
    Be free
    And imagine
    Free with peace at last
    It's lovely
    It's lovely, this land
No one can believe or understand
How far I came just for my lovely family
    I should have been there
With them when the world crashed down
But now they rest with me.
    I'll never forget
    How I felt that moment
    I became free...

General CommentThis song is timeless... very touching. The movie is based on a true story, however, the time period off. Before the first fall of Rome the Roman credo was:

Virtus- In Roman mythology, Virtus was the deity of bravery and military strength, the personification of the Roman virtue of virtus. He/she was one of the di indigetes. The Greek equivalent deity was Arete.

Gravitas- Gravitas (from Latin) is a quality of substance or depth of personality.

Pietas- It is usually translated as "duty" or "devotion

Simplicitas- A Latin phrase meaning literally, ``O holy simplicity!'' To be ``simplus'' in Latin is both to be innocent, humble and modest - the original meaning in this phrase - but also to be ignorant, credulous and naive (the meaning Dr. White ironically gives it here).

    Strength and Honor...
