I'm alone, I'am alone and I'm waiting on an aeroplane
Is it me it is you, why does everybody look this way?
And it all begins again like it all begins with something different
The only way I feel, I fell, of you

Am I here, amd I there, Am I every where I want to be?
Wash it you? Was the truth ever reverent so silently?
And it all begisn again like it all begins with something different
The only way I feel

Do we all fall down so strictly same less silencing the fear?

So you're telling me to tell you something
Can this be the only way to feel?
Leave a light on
And I'm telling you to tell me nothing'cause you can't save me, so surreal
Leave a light on

So alone, so alone am I every thing that I'm going to be

Am I led, Am I fed Am I holding on too silently?

Did it all begin with you? Does it all begin with something different?
The only way I feel

Do we all fall down strictly same less silencing the fear?

So you're telling me to tell you something
Can this be the only way to feel?
Leave a light on
And I'm telling you to tell me nothing'cause you can't save me, so surreal
Leave a light on
And I do feel, and I do fell the only way I'm feeling

Do we all fall down strictly same less silencing the fear?

So you're telling me to tell you something
Can this be the only way to feel?
Leave a light on
And I'm telling you to tell me nothing'cause you can't save me, so surreal
Leave a light on

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
