"My Patch" as written by and Alan Peter Roberts....
If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

If you ever step on my patch
I'll bring you down
I'll bring you down

But he's a genius in his own unique stye, the master of the catchy tune.

General CommentI'm not sure, but I think that what this song means is that Jim Noir will bring you down if you step on his patch.

My InterpretationYou know what? I don't think this is intended as the blatant "don't fuck with me" message some are interpreting it as.

Most of the songs on the Tower of Love album are songs *about* music. Mr. Noir is obviously a musician in love with the craft, and it would seem to follow then that "My Patch" refers to something involved in making music, specifically, a patch cord. That would be the one going from his guitar to the amp, which he is advising you not to step on!

In other words, don't interrupt Jim while he's in the zone making music. He *will* bring you down!
