I take a walk down to the shore
And I wonder how much longer I’ll sustain these steps
It’s been a month since I’ve been gone
And it’s been a month too long since you have graced me with your presence
I smell your scent on every single shirt I wear;
I find pieces of your hair stuck to my suitcase
I try to call but the reception here is weak
And it’ll still be three more weeks until I get home

I hope you're waiting by the door when I get home
I don’t want anyone to see me here alone
It’s not enough to say “I think about you” now
But that was all I had
But that was all I had

I walk the boards alone tonight and try to fill this empty space inside my chest
I took Atlantic home tonight and every neon light, and sign, spelt out your name
And every morning that I wake
I make a point to check the date incase I slept an extra day
I’ve crossed so many numbers out
But every time I count them there are so much more

I hope you're waiting by the door when I get home
I don’t want anyone to see me here alone
It’s not enough to say “I think about you” now
But that was all I had
But that was all...

I hope you're waiting by the door when I get home
I don't want anyone to see me here alone
It's not enough to say "I think about you" now
But that was all I had
But that was all I had.

General CommentSong written for his girlfriend. It is about how much he misses her and how everything reminds him of her.

General CommentIt's definately about missing his girlfriend.

He probably spent a summer down at the Jersey shore ("boards" meaning boardwalks, "i took ATLANTIC home tonight" meaning atlantic ocean) Okay, so it could be any shore on the East coast, but I'm from Jersey so I assume.

So he was at this nice vacation place without the girl he loves, and even as much as he wants to enjoy the beach and the boardwalks, he can't because he's not with her and he misses her presence and can't wait to come home.

    =)

General CommentMy favorite part of this song is

"I make a point to check the date incase I slept an extra day
I’ve crossed so many numbers out
But every time I count them there are so much more".

I agree with Chanrocks more. I'm thinking it's him being on tour and missing his girlfriend.

Aw, I just love this song so much.

General Commentit's definately about a girl whom he loves, but it's kind of hard to tell if it's even someone he's still with... see?

"I don’t want anyone to see me here alone"
"But that was all I had"

    just thinking on it.

General Comment...I hope it's not about his dog. In the beginning he says "I try to CALL but the reception here is weak" So I hope he doesn't try to call his dog. And I don't know if you're a girl or guy, but girls hair gets stuck everywhere. I am a girl, and live in an all female household, and I always find stray hairs on sweatshirts or pillows and in this case, suitcases. And "waiting by the door" doesn't necessarily mean wagging a tail staring at the door. It could just mean he hopes she's there, waiting for him to get home and be excited to see him after being away for so long.

If this is about his dog, you totally killed the song for me hahaha.
