Dive into the sea
You should stay cause i could use the company
Theres more than what you see
These words burn and scorch right to the core of me

And you are such a gem
And so easy for me
Cause you know just who i am
And what i need
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction

This is one of those things
That we never mention
No new song to sing
Oh so tell me anything
Give me truth or lies
I dont care
I dont wanna think
About you

You're such a gem
And so easy for me
Cause you know just who i am
And what i need
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction

Oh you, you're such a gem
And so easy for me
Cause you know just who i am
And what i need
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction
Gimme a distraction

    i love this song.

"oh so tell me anything, give me truth or lies, i don't care, i don't wanna think...about you."

we've all been here before... so sick of a failing relationship, & so sick of not being over someone...

I love how he describes her a a gem. I'm thinking that the female thinks very highly of herself, conceited.

Again, I think this is one of TJ's deep songs where you have to really rack your brains to come up with the real meaning (and something tells me this isn't one of his love songs) But I LOVE this song so much! It's like wow.

Actually I think this song is about how he wants to get away from what he does and he just needs/wants a friend to pour his heart out to. Here's how I think it goes:

Dive into the sea You should stay cause i could use the company Theres more than what you see These words burn and scorch right to the core of me [he's saying like visit him and stay cause he needs the company and the words people say to him actually hurt even though he may act like it doesn't]

And you are such a gem And so easy for me Cause you know just who i am And what i need Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction [He saying that his "friend" is very vaulable to him (hence the gem part) and that they are easy to understand and willing to listen to his troubles even though they may not be in no "known" band or even known at all. And he wants the person to distract him from the possibly stressful life of a rockstar =) ]

This is one of those things That we never mention No new song to sing Oh so tell me anything Give me truth or lies I dont care I dont wanna think About you [I think what he saying here is either TJ doesn't want to talk about his life in a band and always on the road touring. Or he just saying that this friend he has is a girl and maybe she likes him but he just doesn't want to get involved (I have no clue which one it is) And he also saying that he doesn't care what the firend is saying- it doesn't matter. Or he's just aiming this part at one of the people that put him down and he doesn't care about. (this part really confuses me)]

You're such a gem And so easy for me Cause you know just who i am And what i need Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction

Oh you, you're such a gem And so easy for me Cause you know just who i am And what i need Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction Gimme a distraction [(These lines are stated above, so for my idea of the meaning look up)]

So, this is what I think this song is about. It was much easier for me to state what this song means by how I did it. But, I could just as easily be wrong as I could be right. But after talking to TJ for awhile, you sorta come to slightly understand him and you begin to realise that not ALL of his songs are about a relationship he has been involved in.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
