"Wings for Marie (Pt. 1)" as written by and Maynard James/carey Keenan....
You believed
You believed in moments not conceived
You believed in me

A patient in spirit
Uncompromise
Without us in your heart
A light in your eyes that
Ends all lies

Vacant, broken
Fell at the hands of those moments that I wouldn't see
'Cause you, you pray for me too
What have I done to be a son to an angel
What have I done to be worthy

Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescence
Difficult to see with this light
Please forgive this selfish question, but
What am I to say to all these ghouls tonight
She never told a lie
Well might have told a lie
But never lived one
Didn't have a life
Didn't have a life
But surely saved one
Alright, now it's time for us to let you go

General Commentjudith marie is his mom. she died, he is praising her. i like how he through in the term 'ghouls' in there. i had read that is what he called the people from his moms church that had always come around. they were the ones that inspired him to write Judith for APC. you can see in this song that she is dying and he is asking her the selfish question of what is he supposed to tell her congregation.

My OpinionThis album came out shortly before my mother fell ill with terminal cancer. I fully believe this song and 10,00Days Wings For Marie II are written about his mothers' passing. This album kept me as sane as i could be through caring for my own mother and was transformational to me personally. The timing was so odd. I felt a deep connection to this song and to all of Tool's music actually, but I truly want to thank them for the transcendence this album gave me while i went through what was one of the most difficult times in my life. His anger at his mother had been publicly documented through Judith Marie in A Perfect Circle. I understand those feelings as I also had problems with relating to my own mother until facing the prospect of losing her then i came to see as Maynard did the beauty of her life and spirit and what had held us apart was no longer as important as what drew us together. I pray that my mother also received her Wings. Love is transcendent it passes through all barriers of time space life death and even belief. Thank you for this chance to throw out my 2 cents.

General CommentThis is the most beautiful thing since Disposition. Definitely about his mother, obviously. Her faith, obviously. Ah, Wings For Marie Pt I and II are the most insanely beautiful and personal songs that I think Maynard has ever written.

interesting way to end the song. Are "jesus" and "marie" planning something against big god?

General CommentTREXOR, just because you don't like the album, that doesn't mean you are right in saying it is fake. Like any other Tool album, you need to listen to it a few times before it really grabs you. It isn't like most mainstream rock, where each song is instantly catchy. I didn't like it at first, but after a few listens, it is quickly growing on me. I admit it sounds a bit like Lateralus, but it's still good. Those things you posted on other pages would make a point if only:

    1) a song called 'vanity' was on the radio right now
    2) I WASN'T CURRENTLY LISTENING TO THE ALBUM

Yea, it's suspicious that the album was leaked early, but do you really think the band would record an entire FAKE album, just to fool some people? That's the biggest piece of negative publicity I've ever heard.
