Baby I do believe I'm fallen.
Tumbling down, inside and out,
'Til the morning comes around.
Sometimes I'm sure that I am crazy.
It's taking its toll,
It's making me old,
With half the winter still to go.

Maybe I'm afraid of love.
Maybe I'm afraid of pain.
And maybe I'm afraid too much.
Maybe I'm afraid that I won't ever change.

(Take, take me home.)
Let up all my loneliness,
Give my head a rest,
Can't you see I'm waiting?
(Take, take me home.)
Let up all my loneliness,
Give my head a rest,
Can't you see I'm waiting?

Baby please do believe I'm trying.
But it gets so hard to see to the stars,
When you don't know where they are.
And sometimes I'm sure that I am failing.
Too tired to bite,
Too lonely tonight,
To make this come out right.

Maybe I'm afraid of love.
Maybe I'm afraid of you.
I know that I'm afraid too much,
But there's nothing I can do.

(Take, take me home.)
Let up all my loneliness,
Give my head a rest,
Don't you see I'm waiting?
(Take, take me home.)
Take-take-take me home!
Let up all my loneliness,
Give my head a rest,
Can't you see I'm waiting?

(Take, take me home.)
You disappear,
I'll disappear.
(Take, take me home.)
I'll disappear,
If you leave me fallen here.

General CommentShit, I'm the first to comment! I adore this song, so I'll take this as an honor.

Well, this is (quite obviously) about a guy who feels like he's down on his luck and really doesn't see himself escaping this rut anytime soon ("half the winter still to go"). He's trying to pull himself up for this girl, I'd presume, but he's so lost in his depression that it's difficult for him to reach for something he doesn't see as in his grasp ("it gets so hard to see to the stars when you don't know where they are"). He wants to love this girl, but he is afraid of getting hurt. He knows that love necessarily entails taking risks, and this is a risk he should be taking, but he can't squash his fears. He admits that he needs her help, saying that he'll "disappear" if she leaves him "fallen". Maybe this is what he meant when he said, "Can't you see I'm waiting?" He was waiting for both the end of this difficult time and for her help.
