"Crowing" as written by and Dinning/guss/phillips/nichols....
Been waiting to find
You could've been happier given the time
If he'd make up his mind
You'd give yourself to anybody
Who would cross that line

And it was never a question
He was (you were) crowing for repair
You'd give him love and affection
You couldn't keep him there

Get over regret
While you were sleeping with the angels
He was under the bed
And the more skin you shed
The more the air in your throat would linger
When you call him your friend

Staring at a cold little hand
Reading fault lines of a smell of a man
You were waiting for a word from above
Wouldn't you know it, no answer ever did come

General CommentI remember when I used to listen to this song all the time when I was absolutely in love with this guy who seemed interested in me enough but couldn't really commit to a serious relationship.

He ended up leaving me for another girl. I realized then that I'd "given him love and affection" but he was never really with me. He was always going to leave me and I knew that but I went along with him anyway.

We were never anything more than friends and it took me a whle to accept that.
