Life is simple if you've got faith, oh yeah
You don't have to choose
But I don't got numb today
Life was easy yester year oh yeah
I didn't have to move
But I never even got to know you
So baby carry on in charge
Because im a full grown lonely cat
In the world
Without you beating by myside

Out of the dark get your uncorrupted air
And into the light you, you need not prepare
Because I know you'll keep on travelling
Til you make your way back home
I'll try to take care of your home

Patch my life up with cellotape
It doesn't feel so safe
But all the same I don't have to choose
How sad baby is that
Yeah Im a full grown lonely cat
In the world
Without you beating by myside

And out of the dark get you uncorrupted air
And into the light you, you need not prepare
Because I know you'll keep on travelling
Till you find your way back home
I'll try to take care of your home

General Commentmaybe its about someone who lost their love and they're waiting just waiting for them to come back to them because they need them by their side to be happy? im not too sure.. but i think this might be partly right..

General CommentMe too. He really does have an incredible voice, and this is such an under-appreciated song.

General CommentTo me it's about how much loving (and losing) someone can change your life. You realise how easy but also empty your life was before you met this person. Everything feels special, they become your world and make you feel alive, so when they leave, you feel lost. I love the line "patch my life up with cellotape", you try to fix your life, but it's not the same. You're back to just existing instead of living, so secretly you'll always wait for this person to return. I think the chorus sounds as if he was letting her go to explore the world and to take advantage of an opportunity, even though he knows he'll miss her badly and feel like a lonely cat with no one to relate to.
When I was 16, I listened to The Kooks a lot and this is one of the songs I still love, along with Be Mine, Ask Me, Always Where I Need To Be (not the version on Konk though), Tea&Biscuits and a few others.
