Why do you always got to dance to everything?
We’d say she is to see behind—things.
Not a lot of love and not a lot of anything.

Criminals and mimics put a limit on the little things
Dolly’s had the same, Dolly’s love love day things
Not a lot of love and not a lot of anything.

So why you always got to dance to everything?
We got broken eyes.
We’d say she is to see behind things
We got broken eyes.
They got all the sections, all the sections
They got all the sections, we got all the
Sec-sec-sec-sec-TIONS!
Not a lot of love and not a lot of anything.

Criminals and mimics put a limit on the little things
They got broken eyes.
Dolly’s had the same, Dolly’s love love day things
They got broken eyes.
They got all the sections, all the sections
They got all the sections, they got all the
Sec-sec-sec-sec-TIONS!
Not a lot of love and not a lot of anything.

Lord, I think the city’s been hypnotized.
Can you shiver when you wear disguises?
Lord, I think the city’s been hypnotized;
Kiddies got a lot of shit in their eyes. They’re alone.
So Lord, I think the city’s been hypnotized.
Kiddies got a lot of shit in their eyes. They’re alone.
(In the lovely day)
Lord, I think the city’s been hypnotized.
Can you shiver when you wear disguises?

Liars always walk when they’re boxed and swingin’ and
Devils always walk when the spider-heart’s struggling and
Hire me to bright—hire me to bright lights!
When the white clown’s moving in the para-abyss of photographs [?]
How dare you look that way?
How dare you strip me down?
A shitty shell with a knock-off watch
With a knock-off jacket and a knock-off
Lord, I think the city’s been hypnotized.
Can you shiver when you wear disguises?

Why do you always got to dance to everything?
We’d say she is to see behind—things.
They got all the sections, all the sections
They got all the sections, they got all the
Sec-sec-sec-sec-TIONS!
Not a lot of love and not a lot of anything.
Lord, Lord, Lord…

Hit the villain with the knife today
Gonna take the legs outright
Do you think it’s all right?
Do you think I sing song songs to be a son of a bitch in the night?
Make believe in better things and all things become too bright.
Do you think it’s all right?
Do you think I sing song songs to be a son of a bitch in the night?

I knew your broken eyes
I knew your watch is ticking down…
I knew you had it down to take
All the code off of all the poor caps [?] and
Ooh……

And you capture and
You must trust my feelings and
You’re getting warmer

I knew your broken eyes
I knew your watch is ticking down…
I knew you had it down to take
All the code off of all the poor caps [?] and
Hit the villain with the knife today
Gonna take the legs outright
Do you think it’s all right?
Do you think I make song songs to be a son of a bitch in the night?
Make believe in better things and all things become too bright.
Do you think it’s all right?

General CommentI'm a newbie to Spencer Krug, but I love his songs already. I love the lyrics "How dare you strip me down? / A shitty shell with a knock-off watch /
    With a knock-off jacket and a knock-off /
    Lord".

General CommentI'm thinking this song is about how the pop-culture consuming public consumes a lot of shit. First of all, they dance to everything, no matter how terrible the pop songs becomes. Here's Spencer, obviously a religious man to some degree (see "Swimming"), and he's looking at the whole mess and asking, are they hypnotized? Why are they listening to the shit they do and watching the stuff they do (aka "kiddies got a lot of shit in their eyes"). To him, materialism is just hugely impersonal and not genuine in the least--from the clothes to the watches even to the God. Spencer's not like that--he doesn't sing songs to be "a son of a bitch in the night," aka do all the "rock star" things like partying and drugs and girls.

There is a lot more in this song. But I guess that's what I think the gist of it i.

I think this song is about how people distract themselves from the terrifying state of the world.

"I knew your broken eyes and
I knew your watch is ticking down
I knew you had it down to take
All the gold off of all the poor caps "

    Stealing gold from people's teeth?

"Do you think I sing SAD songs to be a son of a bitch in the night?"

General CommentInstead of : "When the white clowns moving in the para-abyss of photographs [?]"

It should be: "Where the white cloud's moving in the mirrors in the photographs".
