This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
To say that you are cute,
Would be like saying a strawberry is sweet,
'Cause a strawberry has secret flavors that are sharp, and tart, and red, and deep,
And i would love to find you growing wild out by the woods,
i would make a basket with the front of my t-shirt,
and take home as many of you as I could,
And to say that you are pretty,
Would be like saying that the ocean is blue,
Cause the ocean is full of all kinds of colors,
and I see all kinds of things when I look at you,
and I want to explore you
With my tenni shoes off
Standing ankle deep in a tide pool,
with my khaki pants rolled up,
and to say that you are funny would be like saying that the night sky is black,
Cause the night sky is filled with stars and comets and planets that no one has seen yet,
And i want to look at you,
Lying down on my front lawn,
I'll try to take you all in at once, but you just go on and on and on

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Magical
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
Midnight

“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
When I saw him this week, he said something along the lines of how when you're attempting to explain to someone what your boyfriend/girlfriend is like, all you can say is "Oh, she's really cute. And funny. Etc." But you think about all the amazing qualities that person has that you can't really explain.
this is the sweetest song in the world, it makes me tear up just thinking of the girl it reminds me of. fuck this song is good
Aw. My ex just re-wrote this poem and gave it to me today, I almost started crying. <br /> <br /> and at the end he wrote, "I heard this and thought of you, I hope it's not lame. I miss you"<br />
Does anyone know if it's Andy Littler on guitar and who wrote the lyrics? I heard that somewhere but not sure if it's true.
Oh lol nevermind, I mixed up names.
Isn't he dissing her? Yeah. It's not sweet.
he's absolutely not dissing her.
"And to say that you are pretty, Would be like saying that the ocean is blue, Cause the ocean is full of all kinds of colors, and I see all kinds of things when I look at you,"
he's saying things aren't just what they seem like the girl he's talking about in the song is more than just pretty or cute.
that's how i see it. i love this song.
mybodyisacage (PS love arcade fire)
its not a fucking dis
hes saying, pretty is a totaly understatment and whoever hes singing about is conplex and more interesting than anything everyone else taht can be defined as "pretty" or "funny"
shes as wonderful as the earth.
i like this song
Gotcha.
yeah exactly. he's definitely not dissing her. comparing calling her pretty to the night sky being black is a complete understatement, because it's not just black. it's a lot more than that and it has a lot more to it, like the stars, etc. and she's not just pretty, there's a lot more there.
and at the end he wrote, "I heard this and thought of you, I hope it's not lame. I miss you"
