"Blood Thirsty Bastards" as written by Carl Barat, Gary Powell, David Jonathan Hammond and Anthony Rossomondo....
The world seems out of touch now
I don't get out so much
I don't feel the same
In these bones anymore
My heels are all worn down
My loyalties are torn
I'm finding different paths now
I never saw before
And it hurts less every day
The paths lead me away
Lead me away from those
Blood Thirsty Bastards
Making plans for no one
But themselves
In this world of disaster
I just need someone
For myself
All the sycophants and vampires
Well I packed them off to hell
Oh I've been up for days now
I hope no one can tell
I do my bit oh yes
To cleanse my hands from lies
Im feeding up the zombies
Hatched from their own eyes
And from these eyes
The weary eyes-cum shadows
Of a very different man
Blood thirsty bastards making plans for no one
but their own
I got to be my own master
get away from these braggards, tricksters, foolish clones
Oh look at how they laugh at you now
What did you do to make this bad become true
For heavens sake
such a silly mistake
You're a legend in your mind
But a rumour in your room
They all followed me down here
To an alleys dirty end
Oh I had nothing to give them
I just thought they were my friends
Doesnt matter now
I'm angry anyhow
So its the best way I can deal with
Blood thirsty bastards
making plans for no one
But their kind
Only now do I see it
I know I don't need it, no
I pay them no mind
Blood thirsty bastards making plans for no one
But themselves
In this world of disaster
I just need someone
To myself

General CommentI guess this song is about people being selfish, just caring about themselves and being self obsessed.
    'All the sycophants and vampires'
self-seekers who attempt to win favor by flattering people.
'You’re a legend in your mind
But a rumour in your room'
I like this line, as it describes how a person might see themselves, but not how other people see them.
Blood thirsty bastards could represent people alwasy wanting more and not being satisfied with what they have because they cant see past their own selfishness.

General CommentI can see the references to libertines fans following his new path in DPT, but it's not pleasant:

They all followed me down here
    To an alleys dirty end
Oh I had nothing to give them
I just thought they were my friends

General CommentThis song is about Obsessive fans that were stalking pete and making selfish rumours about Pete and Carl. Carl was so upset because the rumours got out of hand and then he decided to become a preist. But that meant him to choose between his sexual orientation or against himself. So he chose the path that fit him best. He made it alas. And that meant with out good old pete doherty.

General CommentI love the way "blood thirsty bastards" is sung. He sings "bloodthir-sty BAS-tards", he emphasizes the bas in "bastards"

General CommentThe song describes the chronology and line of thought of a person's rite of passage.

The first of three steps being "seperation" from everyone and the second being liminity. In this song both, for the most part are linked. Liminity means openness and usually arises in a person when there is a lack of meaningful people (The Blood Thirsty Bastards or All the sycophants and vampires or the zombies) around them which causes their seperation and the final stage being integration.

    The seperation step is told in lines like;

I don’t get out so much
The world seems out of touch now
    I never saw before
    cleanse my hands from lies
    a rumour in your room

    The liminity stage is is told in lines like;

The world seems out of touch now
    I don’t feel the same
    In these bones anymore
    My loyalties are torn
And it hurts less every day
Oh I’ve been up for days now
(his open eyes represent both the struggle through the rite of passage liminity which means openess)
    And from these eyes
    The weary eyes-cum shadows
    Of a very different man
Only now do I see it

    The rite of passage is hinted in lines like;
My heels are all worn down
    I’m finding different paths now
    I never saw before
    The paths lead me away
    Lead me away from those

    The step to Liminity and Integration is hinted in lines such as;

    I just need someone
    For myself

    Seperation to Complete Integration is told in lines such as;

Well I packed them off to hell
I got to be my own master
    I pay them no mind

His hatred is of those he "just thought were his friends" who instead are zombies which feed upon his possessions in their greed and addiction "Hatched from their own eyes", who are mere "braggards, tricksters, (and) foolish clones", who keep "making plans for no one, But themselves, but their kind", who laugh at him and dismiss him as a legend but who see themselves as legends cause his ultimate seperation and re-integration, either alone as his own master or with new people.

General CommentI Love this song, its one of my favorite DPT's songs. I think its about how someone is feeling used by someone, and he feels torn between his loyalties, as well as feeling that people are sucking up to this other person hence " all the sycophants and vampires we'll I packed them off to hell" he then. goes on to say that he's trying to break free from those users, but he still has feelings for them 'loyalties' are torn. But he feels weary, can't sleep, ect. I also think he's angry at those blood thirsty bastards which colud reffer to the press and how they were only out for themselves, and were bleeding him dry with all the talk about pete, the libertines ect. ect.
