Cancel my funeral
Push back the soil
Wipe the tears away
Take back the words you said
Oh Preacher, I'm not dead
Cancel my funeral
Don't take another look
Or waste another word I'm
(I'm right here waiting)
I know you look scared
This is the only way to
(To keep from dying)
It's just enough time
To make this blood stop
Please receive me
Just, don't say, good-bye
And as the plane crashed down
I thought you said "let go"
And as our bodies burn
I felt you say "hold on"
I knew that I would never be
Like one who had no hope
So you, Cancel my funeral
Push back the soil
Wipe the tears away
Take back the words you said
Oh Preacher, I'm not dead
Cancel my funeral
This time we've had
Flashed in my eyes
And as the plane crashed down
I felt you sigh
(This is over, this is over, this over now)
I begged to never count the days
Beg to never live a better day
Only to maintain
That this is over, this is over now
And as I woke up
I realized the things I've said
The plans I've made
They can't happen until I'm dead
Dead to myself, but alive in you
Cancel my funeral
Push back the soil
Wipe the tears away
Take back the words you said
Oh Preacher, I'm not dead
Cancel my funeral now

General Commentthis song is sooo sad, aww no comments? when he keeps saying "cancel the funeral" i think he means he is not going to die because they are splitting up. something like that, thats what it means to me at least.

General CommentI'm not saying that you are wrong, because I am a firm believer that music is a universal language that speaks to everyone on different levels... i.e. the way you interpret it is different than the way I do, but neither of us are wrong.

With that being said, this song is about sacrificing your physical life here on earth to Christ for a spiritual life that a physical one pales in comparison to.

    "And as I woke up
I realized the things I've said
    The plans I've made
They can't happen until I'm dead
Dead to myself, but alive in you"
