"Let Love In" as written by Glen Ballard, John T. Rzeznik and Gregg Steven Wattenberg....
You wait, wanting this world
To let you in
And you stand there
A frozen light
In dark and empty streets
You smile, hiding behind
A God-given face
But I know you're so much more
Everything they ignore
Is all that I need to believe

You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in

I wish
Wishing for you to find your way
And I'll hold on for all you need
That's all we need to say
I'll take my chances while
You take your time with
This game you play
But I can't control your soul
You need to let me know
You leaving or you gonna stay

You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in

There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to do without
The only way to feel again
Is let love in

There's nothing we can do about
The things we have to live without
The only way to see again
Is let love in

You're the only one I ever believed in
The answer that could never be found
The moment you decided to let love in
Now I'm banging on the door of an angel
The end of fear is where we begin
The moment we decided to let love in

General CommentI saw the singer of the Goo Goo Dolls being interviewed on VH1 on one of the music video countdown things and he said that this song is not about a girl. In my opinion, I think it is a message to the world that we all need to just set aside all our anger and hatred and let the love enter all our hearts. It's just standing there, waiting for us to open the door and let it in, but we'd rather hang on to our grudges and our stubborn pride than even dare to dream of loving each other. Face it, people, we are all so caught up in being the best, the biggest, the richest, the strongest nation on the planet that we lose sight of caring about others. Even the poor little war-ridden countries are too proud and determined to despise everyone else that they can't just relax and stop to think of peace and harmony. Millions of people starve in the streets of a country, rich or poor, and all the money is spent on weapons of mass distruction to launch at somebody else in order to wipe them out. Why can't we all just climb down off our bloody towers and concentrate on helping each other? We talk and we talk and we talk some more about how gosh darn nice it would be to have world peace, but while we're saying it we're loading up a gun to go out with and kill the father, brother, son or husband of some person just trying to defend his home. I'm not anti-America or anything, but I really must say that we suck as a whole. We've always got to go sticking our noses in business that isn't ours and invading the homelands of innocent people simply because we can. We're powerful and paranoid, sometimes a bad combination. We had no right to go over and push ourselves upon the Iraqis. No, maybe they don't like us and no, maybe they don't want our help overthrowing their dictatorship and establishing a new government, but that's no reason to go blowing up their homes and killing their children. President Bush said the government thought that Iraq had weapons of mass distruction so they sent people from the United Nations over there to investigate. The UN came back and said, "Nope, there's no weapons like you thought over there. You cannot invade. You have no justifiable reason." But guess what. We did it anyway. We went over and forced ourselves on a country who didn't deserve to be harassed this way. This war has been good for nothing and has only succeeded in robbing both Iraq and the United States of its people. I've got two brothers in the airforce and I'm pissed. Sorry to have ranted and gone seemingly off the subject. I just had to say all of that to demonstrate the message of this song which is simply to do as it says: "Let Love in."

General CommentThis song is such a pretty story. Here's how I see it...
He's in love with a girl who might be a little bit of a social outcast, or maybe she's been treated badly and ignored. But he sees her for who she really is and loves her anyway. "But I know you're so much more. Everything they ignore is all that I need to believe."
He's trying to tell her that he sees what's on the inside, and that's what makes her beautiful. "You're the only one I ever believed in."
She just needs to let love in and let him be there for her. It's the only way to save her. "The only way to feel again is let love in."
    How sweet...

General CommentThe Goo Goo Dolls said this song was not about a girl, but the state of the world.

What I think they were trying to get across without causing controversy with their fans was that the world needs to let Jesus in. Jesus is the Light of the World; he is love. This world has become dark and full of empty hearts. He is the answer all of our problems and he continues to wait for us. He's been here the whole time, but we, the world, have come to ignore him and push him away. "You wait, wanting this world, To let you in, And you stand there, A frozen light, In dark and empty streets, You smile hiding behind, A God-given face, But I know you're so much more, Everything they ignore, Is all that I need to believe"

Then the second verse turns into God/Jesus' point of view. We have the choice to let Jesus in or not, and He will continue to wait for us to choose. He just wishes that we would see that He is the way. "I wish, Wishing for you to find your way, And I'll hold on for all you need, That's all we need to say, I'll take my chances while, You take your time with, This game you play, But I can't control your soul, You need to let me know, You leaving or you gonna stay"

The chorus can kind of explain itself from there.

    General Commentamazing song.

you gotta learn how to love on your own
and when you do learn how to love your fear will go away
i guess he's waiting for her because he's always believed in her, but she needs to learn how to "let love in"...her heart :)

see if everyone just did this and listened to the goos the world would be a better place

General CommentTo me, this song talks about how you need to be able to let people in, and let them see you. So more or less what gonnaletitslide said. But it's about him trying to show her that he loves her, and that he thinks that she may love her. But, she hasn't let love into her life. Maybe because of some family reasons, maybe because she was in an abusive relationship.
She doesn't believe in herself, because others ignore her.
Ok, that's what I think this song means.

General CommentI think its about his relationship witha girl who'd been hurt before, and was reluctant to let love into her life. Shes viewed by others shallowly, and no one sees beyond her face, and into who she actually is, and he's saying that he'll wait for her to make up her mind about whether or not to let him in.
