"Rotten World Blues" as written by and Mark O. Everett....
Well I went walking
Out yesterday
A man was carrying a sign that says
"the world is gonna end tomorrow"
Hey buddy, got a nickel I can borrow?

This rotten world's gonna chew you up
Swallow you whole and then spit you back out
The sooner you recognize this simple fact
Then this rotten world gives you what you lack

Ol' Miss Headtrip
She's gettin' down
You don't see her much walking 'round town
Well you could say that she needs a little lovin'
Looking for a light with her head in the oven

This rotten world's gonna chew you up
Swallow you whole and then spit you back out
The sooner you recognize this simple fact
Then this rotten world gives you what you lack

Miss Kovaleva
She's lookin' good
Walkin' her ass through the neighborhood
She knows something that you don't know
Something she learned about a long time ago

This rotten world's gonna chew you up
Swallow you whole and then spit you back out
The sooner you recognize this simple fact
Then this rotten world gives you what you lack

This rotten world's gonna chew you up
Swallow you whole and then spit you back out

General CommentI love this song, cause it has a very catchy tune to it...dunno about the hidden meaning or references in the versus but the chorus seems pretty obvious anyway some feedback would be great..cheers

General CommentJust for accuracy purposes, third stanza - it's Miss Headtrip, not Miss Hedrick.

My interpretation is that once you realize and accept that the world is out to get you and defeat you, any other thing that comes your way seems only to be a blessing. :)

The fictional Miss Kovaleva struts around town because she understands this "me against the world" philosophy to a degree that few of us can comprehend.

General CommentI think this song is about accepting life on its own terms. when you try to manipulate the world to your liking, you get disappointed. when you resign yourself to the fact that so many things are outside of your control, then things start working in your favor, like magic.
point of the song (I think)- make plans, but know they can change. everything will be OK.
