These mirrors you've broken are your cry for art
Salt and pepper shakers over your shoulders
Cross your heart
Don't you know it's bad luck
To stay in one place for too long?
You've been listening to the voices in your head
Helpless when they go

So we play a game of snakes and ladders
Gambled our mistakes
Didn't know what could come after
Threw away the cards
Who thinks it could matter?
Oh, who believes in fate, anyway?

When only you could be the one
To win out over me
When it isn't just a game
It's the way we come undone

What a perfect accident
Oh, we danced around them all
Like we didn't even notice
I love the way we come undone

Thought I saw something hidin' in the yard
But it was bad weather to keep a watch out in the dark
You know, all this time I've been playing for your heart
But I never let it on
I'll have to watch you play the part

So we played a game of snakes and ladders
Gambled our mistakes
Didn't know what could come after
Threw away the cards
Who thinks it could matter?
Oh, who believes in fate anyway?

When only you could be the one
To win out over me
When it isn't just a game
It's the way we come undone

What a perfect accident
Oh, we danced around them all
Like we didn't even notice
I love the way we come undone

General Commentthis is such a beautiful song. i really like the how the lyrics discuss the flaws in people, how when you try to get close to anyone your taking a risk, but its a beautifully worth it risk.

    General CommentNo taxi towns here:
"What a perfect accident. Oh we danced around them all"

    No divorce either:
"You've been listening to voices in your head. Helpless when they go."

It's about how sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and embrace the risk of failure in order to taste success.

General Commentfor me it's about playing a game..

this thing between two people learning how to .. how to get together. it's like being in love... and accepting that it's just a game yet...

it's all about winning, losing, gambling, a game, dancing, playing, ... this unknown.. a great song.. can't stop hearing it. her voice, these harmonies.. it just.. flows..

General CommentI believe "Thought I saw something hard and in the yard" is actually "Thought I saw something hidin' in the yard".
