"Don't Want to Hurt You" as written by and George/moss O'dowd....
Give me time to realize my crime
Let me love and steal.
I have danced inside your eyes
How can I be real.

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Precious kisses words that burn me
Lovers never ask you why.
In my heart the fire is burning
Choose my color find a star
Precious people always tell me
That's a step a step too far.

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry.

Words are few
I have spoken
I could waste a thousand years
Wrapped in sorrow, words are token
Come inside and catch my tears
You've been talking but believe me
If it's true you do not know
This boy loves without a reason
I'm prepared to let you go

If it's love you want from me
Then take it away
Everything's not what you see it's over again.

Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry
Do you really want to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry.

Give me time to realize my crime
Let me love and steal.
I have danced inside your eyes
How can I be real.
If it's love you want from me then take it again.

General CommentThis is a pretty good song and by the male and female vocals, I think the meaning is obvious. I'm not doing a good job at interpreting, but I get that feeling that this is about a guy and a girl. The guy likes the girl, and vice-versa, but the guy never says anything. The girl decides to leave him behind.

General CommentBest song on the album. This song could have been released in '85 and stormed the chart. It's the unholy union of The Cars and Human League, and I love it!

As for the meaning, pretty damn obvious, methinks.

General Commentthe guy wants to but wants the girl to know thats all it is.
the girl knows this already and thinks it is better to leave it unsaid because you never know.

that said, wear a raincoat. and let love into your heart.

General CommentI think this song is about sex.
Basically saying that he knows the girl like him, but he only wants her for sex and he doesn't feel the same way.
He doesn't want her to think he's leading her on, because all he wants is sex
And if she ever came out and told him how she felt, he'd feel bad.

General CommentDef about sex. But because of the line "So many times now we've been through this before", it makes me think it's about an ex boyfriend and ex girlfriend who have broken up (maybe several times) but keep hooking up because they still have "lust" for each other. The boy, who maybe have initiated the break up in the first place, wants to keep hooking up because he's attracted to her but he doesn't want to lead her on and let her think he wants to get back together as boyfriend/girlfriend again... he wants her to come over for sex but because he cares about her feelings still he wants to be clear with her that that's all it is ("don't want to hurt you/ don't want to fuck with your feelings").
