"Faithless Street" as written by and Phil Wandscher Ryan Adams....
If angels are messengers from God
Please send one down to me
If angels are messengers from God
I wrote a letter he should read
Been living on Faithless Street
All by myself
Work your whole life for someone else
Trying to find sanction
Christ above man
He never shed his peace on this land
So I started this damn country band
Been living on Faithless Street
All by myself
Work your whole life for someone else
Trying to find sanction
Christ above man
He never shed his peace on this land
So I started this damn country band
Cause punk rock was too hard to sing

General CommentThe song seems straightforward. He is feeling alone with no one to watch over him. The commentary focuses on god never showing him any grace.

The lyric 'He (Christ) never shed his peace on this land So I started this damn country band Cause punk rock was too hard to sing' is a testament to the affinity between alt country and punk rock.

Song Fact"Faithless Street" is what Ryan Adams used to call a low-rent housing area in Raleigh where he once lived.
