1 2 2 toobidoo.
The leaves of brown
Came tumbling down,
Remember in September in the rain.
The sun went out
Just like a light,
Remember in September in the rain.

To every word
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.

To every word
Of love I heard you whisper
The raindrops seems
To play a sweet refrain.
Thought it's spring,
To me it's still September,
Oh that September in the rain.
I said I said it's September in the rain.
Ah September in the rain.

General Comment:This song is from the Decca sessions and has Paul on Lead vocal. This was the first song (along with Three Cool Cats) released as a 45 from SFF back in the 70's. I've still got the 45 (yellow vinyl) and I still remember how cool it was to hear a "new" Beatles song then (I hadn't discovered bootlegs yet). I believe this also shows up on Anthology 1.

It certainly has a classic McCartney sound to the vocals. They didn't write it, but the meaning seems obvious - it's spring and he is remembering and longing for his love from the previous September.
