I tried to fight the feeling, the feeling took me down,
I struggle and I lost the day you knocked me out,
Now everything's got meaning and meanings bring me down,
I'm watching as the screening of my life plays out.

Every day I fight these feelings,
For your sake I will hide the real thing,
You can run all your life; for mine, I will chase...

You should never fight your feelings,
When your very bones believe them,
You should never fight your feelings,
But you have to follow nature?s law.

I'll live with never knowing, if knowing's gonna change,
I'll stop the feeling growing, I will stay away,
Like a broken record stuck before a song,
A million beginnings, none of them the one.

Every day I fight these feelings,
For your sake I will hide the real thing,
You can run all your life; for mine, I will chase...

You should never fight your feelings,
When your very bones believe them,
You should never fight your feelings,
But you have to follow nature's law.

I wrote her letters and tried to send them,
In a bottle I placed my hope,
An SOS full of good intentions,
Seek your will, you'll give it to me,
Don't make me wait,
You build me up, now take down,
But I will stand my ground,
And guide this light that I've found.

You should never fight your feelings,
When your very bones believe them,
If you let them show you'll keep them,
I know you're hurt but soon you'll rise again,
Again, again, again, again, again, again, again..

You should never fight your feelings,
When your very bones believe them,
You should never fight your feelings,
I have to follow nature's law.

Embrace look ready to release another great album to follow up their previous one. This song provides more than enough evidence for this to happen. Anyway I believe that this song is about hiding your feelings and being to shy to talk to a girl who you have a secret love with and worried about rejection (looks quite obvious but you never know, I'm often wrong)

I think that this song is quite simplistic, yet powerful. I think the words really speak for themselves so it's just about revealing your feelings before it's too late. I (L) this song!!!

This song is just beautiful, and the 'Listen to your Heart' music by Roxette fits the song perfectly! The track describes the situation of trying to hold back your feelings for someone because you're scared that they may reject you. Its a tough situation, just what do you do? Do you carry on the way things are, or do you just follow natures law and risk ur friendship in the process?

"Listen to your Heart" is about the person who has to make the choice about the relationship, whereas this song is about the person who has no control in that person's choice. It's kind of the other side of the story in my mind, but yeah, the exact same subject.

It's an amazing song, and I agree, spot on with how it feels to be in such a situation. The irony is that neither person really has a choice because the matter in question is love.

I get the feeling that the narrator of this song is trying to do what's best for the girl he loves, and if that means biting the tongue, so be it. But there is evidence he hopes she'll come around: "like a broken record stuck before a song", as well as lines that indicate self-abuse: "in a bottle I placed my hope" (a nice double-entendre).

All in all, a well-written, fresh new song that has me loving this band more than ever.

"We don't choose who we love, we don't choose..."

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
