"Vultures" as written by and Mayer/palladino/jordan....
Some of us, we're hardly ever here
The rest of us, we're born to disappear
How do I stop myself from
Being just a number?
How will I hold my head
To keep from going under?

[Chorus]
Down to the wire
I wanted water, but
I'll walk through the fire
If this is what it takes
To take me even higher
Then I'll come through
Like I do
When the world keeps
Testing me, testing me, testing me

How did they find me here?
What do they want from me?
All of these vultures hiding
Right outside my door
I hear them whisperin'
They're tryin' to ride it out
They've never gone this long
Without a kill before

[Chorus]

Wheels up
I got to leave this evening
Can't seem to shake these vultures
Off of my trail
Power is made by power being taken
So I keep on running
To protect my situation

[Chorus]

Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
Ooh
What'cha gonna do about it?
What'cha gonna do about it?
What'cha gonna do about it?
Don't give up, give up, give up
Don't give up, give up, give up
Don't give up, give up, give up

General Commentit's about the people who are always trying to bring you down but you rise above and do something great, that people wouldn't expect. people may doubt you but if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish what you want, even if it's a difficult road.

"i wanted water but i walk through the fire
if this is what it takes to take me even higher
and i'll come through like i do
when the world keeps testing me..."

kind of reminds me of "whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger"

General CommentOops. I posted this not knowing there was a JM3 page, which they should probably get rid of and add it to this page.

General CommentI'm not sure what this song is about. Maybe living a meaningful life despite the vultures- or hinderances?

General Commenti think it's about wanting to live a meaningful life and ignoring the doubters and naysayers out there (vultures) who are just waiting for one mistake to move in on, he's gotta keep moving and improving just to maintain where he is in life

General Comment...It's about people always waiting for you to make a mistake but they can't really do anything about it because you're able to overcome the shit that happens in your life anyway :) that's what i think.

General CommentCool ass song - the guitar riff alone carries it, never mind the great falsetto. lyrics and flourishes. What you gonna do about the vultures? They will always be there.

General CommentI thought this song was about more than just everyday struggles, I thought it had to do with his "celebrity life", which, until Jessicagate, was under the radar. The "vultures" would probably be the paparazzi, and stalker fans (vultures right outside my door), and when he says "they've never gone this long without a kill before", I think it refers to the fact that he's managed to remain somewhat scandal-free, but even if he has to go through all the "celebrity" bullshit, he'll still come out clean on the other side because this (music) is what he really wants out of life, could be wrong, but that's what I think!
