It's almost like you had it planned
Its like you smiled and shook my hand
And said hey
I'm about to screw you
Over big time

What was I supposed to do
I was stuck in between you
And a hard place
We won't talk about the hard place

But I don't blame you anymore
That's too much pain to store
It left me half dead
Inside my head
And boy looking back I see
I'm not the girl I used to be
When I lost my mind
It saved my life.

Its how you wanted it to be
Its like you played a joke on me
And I lost a friend
In the end
And I think that I cried for days
But now it seems light years away
And I'm never going back
To who I was

'Cause I don't blame you anymore
'Cause its too much pain to store
'Cause it left me half dead
Inside my head
And boy looking back I see
I'm not the girl I used to be
When I lost my mind
It saved my life

I think I cried for days
But now that seems like light years away
And I'm never going back to who I was

I don't blame you anymore
That's too much pain to store
It left me half dead
Inside my head
And boy looking back I see
I'm not the girl I used to be
When I lost my mind
It saved my life

That life seems like light years away.
Light years away.

That life seems like light years away.
Light years away.

Girl and guy really had something, whether it friendship or relationship. Things got fucked up, she blamed him and walked away from him. Years later she looks back and she's forgiven him after all the pain- the "hard place" is an indication of pre-existing personal pain- but she's grown from the painful experience and it "saved my life".

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
