You're sorry
You said it yourself and we believe you
(No we really do!)
Now no one is going to save you now!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise
You're laughing
Cause they laugh at you
And then you scream out to all the empty pews
And no one is going to save you now!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise
Now go and pray to your God inside
And if you never knew, little boy it's you
You can't use me! You won't use me!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise
You said it yourself and we believe you
(No we really do!)
Now no one is going to save you now!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise
You're laughing
Cause they laugh at you
And then you scream out to all the empty pews
And no one is going to save you now!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise
Now go and pray to your God inside
And if you never knew, little boy it's you
You can't use me! You won't use me!
Backstabber! Backstabber!
When you're in disguise

Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Midnight

Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
Great song...but...what it means "backstabber"?
Amazing song. Jonezetta is my new addiction :]
This song is basically about this person and he or she backstabbed the guy who's singing. To backstab someone, incase no one knows, is to go behind someone's back and tell that person's secret to another person. It's like a betrayal. Here's what the song means to me:
"You're sorry You said it yourself and we believe you (No we really do!)"
"Now no one is going to save you now!"
"Backstabber! Backstabber! When you're in disguise"
"You're laughing Cause they laugh at you And then you scream out to all the empty pews And no one is going to save you now!"
"Now go and pray to your God inside And if you never knew, little boy it's you You can't use me! You won't use me!"
The End.
I originally thought this song was about the priests that were molesting those little boys. These holy men are backstabbers to the faith and to those kids. On top of that there are a lot of religious references. Just my two cents
wow i love this song. it's sooooo good live. haha it was so awesome the lead singers like
"yeah we got here and jumped off the bus in shorts and flip flops, and it was freezing! so this song is dedicated to mother nature" and then it started and i was flipping out.l
amaazing song really.
When I saw them in concert the first time, I thought they were saying "Backstabber, backstabbing ho!" and it amused me soooooo much.
i CANNOT get enough of jonezetta. this song isn't my fave lyrically but def. instrumentally! ah they just make me wanna dance. i can't wait for their next record!
It's actually about a former friend and member of the band, Josh Maze. Josh stooped really low and lied to Rob Chisholm's girlfriend in order that he could get her. The friendship broke, Rob wrote this song, Tooth and Nail signed them because of this song, and now it's available to purchase almost everywhere.
