I fell asleep last Saturday
Underneath polluted skies
I walked alone in those Jersey nights
And I
Saw the board walk start to fall
The empty ness starts to drown
The quiet corners of this town tonight

Late last night I made my plans
It was the only thing I felt I could do
Said goodbye to my best friend
Sometimes there's no one left to tell you the truth

It's gonna kill me the rest of my life
Let me apologize while I'm still alive
I know it's time to face
All of my past mistakes
It's gonna kill me for the rest of my life

This is my all time low
Somehow it feels so familiar
Somehow it seems so familiar
I fell like letting go
And every second that goes by
I'm screaming out for second tries

Said goodbye to my best friend
Sometimes there's no one left to tell you the truth

It's gonna kill me the rest of my life
Let me apologize while I'm still alive
I know it's time to face
All of my past mistakes
I've got to live with them the rest of my life

This is the mess I've made
These are the words I can't erase
This is my life support
Shutting down
For the final time
And it swings like a blade?
And kills me for the rest of my life

If you won't forgive me the rest of my life
Let me apologize while I'm still alive
I know it's time to face
All of my past mistakes
It's gonna kill me for the rest of my life

It's gonna kill me for the rest of my life
It's gonna kill me for the rest of my life

Quality song, was co-written by Mark Hoppus. So might be about the break up of Blink and the breakdown of his friendship with Tom, but I doubt it.

mark hoppus helped write this? no wonder this song reminds me of adam's song. i think the meaning is about a guy who's been living inthe smae place all his life and he wants to get away and start over, but he's feeling sad becuase he has to leave behind everyone he knew.

This song and it's lyrics have inspired a story I'm currently writing, entitiled "The Rest of our lives." Just about typical teenage life and having to grow up, loosing your immaturity. To me, this song explains how difficult something can be to say if it's not said straight away, and how not saying it can hurt so much...

Very catchy song. Should get Less Than Jake the additional radio and TV exposure that they deserve.

I love the music video for this song which portrays how childish grown-ups can act.

This song is the biggest departure from what Less Than Jake has ever done before but I love the song. It's real radio friendly. I hope this song finally gets them a platninum album. They deserve it.

I think the song is about burning bridges - knowing you cannot EVER rebuild that bridge - but still wanting that person to know that you are truthfully and honestly apologetic and remorseful.

this isn't typical less than jake, but it is 100% less than jake. i love this band, and this just shows that they make amazing slow songs...this new album is going to be amazing, just as i'd expect from this band... because, i know that every single one of us, though we may not be feeling it now, has felt like this at some point.

WOW, cannot believe no one has commented yet. This song is very catchy and poppy for LTJ, but its great nontheless. Being from Jersey i love these lines: "I walked alone in those Jersey nights And I Saw the board walk start to fall "

Heh delvec19 has said it. Great song nonetheless, I'm not quite sure what it's about, but this is my interpretation. I think it's to do with someone who has made a mistake and messed stuff up, they've lost their best friend because of this. They want to apologise and want second chances, but this isn't the first time. And that they are contemplating suicide in some parts. "This is my life support shutting down for the final time." They want to end the pain. But I don't know really, it's probably wrong but just a try.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
