"4 B.F." as written by and Graham/barson Mcpherson....
The foundation member of a space age group
Who crooned his way to my heart
Who took the breath of young men and women
Has left us for a brand new start

But oh, I've got a feeling
A strange kind of feeling

And inspiration of many dreams
The instigate for now it seems

But oh, I get your meaning
You're shy but a human being

I hope things work out for better
Bloom into forever
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh

Oh yes, I still sway to the Beauty Queen
Nothing at one time could tell or tear us apart
So make me a deal and I'll take you there
Love was the drug that finally made you despair

I hope things work out for better
Bloom into forever
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh
Oh oohoh ohoh

General CommentI believe this song is about Bryan Ferry, or, at least, dedicated to him (the title is a reference to a Roxy Music song, "2HB" -- "to Humphrey Bogart", in this case, "4 B.F." would be "for Bryan Ferry").

General CommentPs the lyric is 'oh yes i still sway to the beauty queen nothing at one time could tell or tear us apart, make me a deal and i'll take you there love was the drug that finally made you despair.
Which contains references to Virginia Plain(make me a deal),the love was the drug that nearly made him despair is a direct reference to the single LITD and how his break up with Jerry Hall nearly sent him over the edge.

General CommentA tribute to Roxy Music/Bryan Ferry, with direct lines about him,Oh yes i still sway to the beauty queen,BQ is a beautiful song off the Roxy Lp For yr Pleasure, the term space age group is Lee Thompson's description of what Roxy looked like when he 1st saw them on TOTP as no one looked liked them it was like they'd been beamed down from space.
There is also another verse which goes 'you left us stranded with a hungry crew did you expect us to gain respect for you?i'm sure you did'nt mean it i know you did'nt scheme it'.
The song should've been on the 1985 LP Mad Not Mad but was omitted for some reason, maybe cos in part it sounds uncanily like another Roxy song called 'Out Of The Blue'
It then later surfaced on The Ill fated 1988 Lp The Madness
