"Better" as written by Robin Finck and W. Axl Rose....
No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.

No one ever told me when I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better.

The hardest part this troubled heart has never
Yet been through now.
We've healed the scars that got their start
Inside someone like you now.

Well had I known or I'd been shown back
When I longed you'd take me.
To break the charge that brought me home
And all that won't erase me.

I never would know that I could
No matter what you'd pay me.
Replay the part, you stole my heart
I should have known you're crazy.

If all I knew was that with you
I'd want someone to save me.
It'd be enough, but just my luck,
I fell in love and baby all that I wanted was

Now I know you better,
You know I'd know better,
Now I know you better!

So bittersweet, this tragedy won't ask for absolution,
This melody inside of me still searches for solution,
A twist of fate, a change of heart,
Kills my infatuation,
A broken heart, provides the spark for my determination,

No one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better, better.
Ooh, no one ever told me when I was alone,
They just thought I'd know better, better.

General CommentICK! I hate all the
    "it's not Guns N Roses"
It's been 20 years, life changes, people change, music changes...
and it's just the title of a band. So What?!
It's about the music, the emotions...
Love or Hate it based on the right measures.

Slash rocks! Axl is a genius!
    I respect both (musically).
Though I have to admit that I lost respect for Slash when he went public with the comments and book. Seems like it all should have remained private. Fuck the public. I don't need to know their business. I have my own life to contend with and I don't know those people. It would seem like Slash sold Axl out and betrayed him. Not saying there isn't more to what all went on beyond the publics view (obviously there was), but, it should have remained there (out of the publics eyes).

General CommentBest song so far, for sure...

And again, he's talking about a relationship that didn't end up well. I say "again" because most of the new songs talk about something similar. I read a post somewhere saying Axl is a deppresive manicac or something like, stating that whatever that would hit us emotionally, it would hit him 100 times harder because of that. Makes sense... though, come to think about it, wtf do we know about Axl emotions? Anyways, great song, real clean sound... and yes, great song and sad at the same time.

General Commentcan we all just accept that axl is permanently tormented by his repressed gay love for slash, that every song he writes is about this, and move on with our lives?!?!!

General CommentI dont like when people keep complaining that its nto the same with out slash, or its not the old gnr, when its obvious by the sound that he is going for something totally new, this isnt suposed to be the guns n roses from the late 80's its a new band with the name, thats it, any way who wrote all fo the songs for gnr, masterminded it and sang it all, axel, so slash is replaceable, as well as the others, you could have had an amazing band that did the smae thing with out duff or slash, but ther wouldnt have been a great band with out axel, and its manic depressive othre wise known as bi-polar and tehre is medication which im sur ehe is on that makes him feel pretty normal...

General CommentI know this is going to piss people off, but, I didn't feel Slash's absence on this album at all. I mean it'd be cool to have Slash, Duff and Izzy back in the GnR line up; I am a huge fan of theirs as well. However, Axl (and the others) rocked just fine without them (just my opinion).

General Commentthis song is freakin awesome. i heard about it but never looked it up. i heard it in my car on my way to college and i was late to class cause i was blaring it in my car at the parking lot. totally worth it. i just now got home to download it. the way the lyrics move through this song with so much kick ass attitude yet is in a sympathetic way. this is one of the best songs by them. rock on........ :)

    All that I wanted was

    You know I know better
    Now I know you better

I never wanted you to be so full of anger (anger)
I never wanted you to be somebody else
I never wanted you to be someone afraid to know themselves
I only wanted you to see things for yourself

    All that I wanted was

    Now I know you better
    Now we all know better
    All that I wanted was

    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    Na na na na
    (cont. thru verse)

    If I were you
    I'd manage to
    Avoid the invitation

    Of Promised love
    That can't keep up
    with your adoration

    Just use your head
    And in the end
    You'll find your inspiration

    To choose your steps
    And won't regret
    This kind of aggravation

No one ever told me when
    I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

No one ever told me when
    I was alone
They just thought I'd know better, better

My OpinionI always thought that GNR was a balanced band with Axl/Slash/Izzy line up and all other members. Always thought that Izzy himself was the real balance of the band and when he left, Axl claim to himself the mainstream of all musics and all members went with him throught all Axl's twisted worlds: Slash with all kill guitars and riffs, duff's groove, dizzy's melodies, all inclusive. All GNR musics became histories and still does on this new album, or should i say they continues on this new album. Axl created a masterpiece history of his own life throught music: all complex, filled by emotions and madness, there is no other way to represent love itself - "now i know love better, now i know you better"
