so you're sinking kinda fast
that a great big light was your past
this is more than waking up
when you're still at the bar
hanging around with the queens after dark
we've come a long way to end up lost
we're drifting, yeah were drifting along
oh lord

cut it up until the pain goes away

everything of the enemy's a little more green
and everyone's wearing just a little decay
cut it up and hand it over
i don't wanna remember

cut it up until the pain goes away

when the ship done sinks
and the crews are drowned
what am i gonna do
am i hanging around
this cruise is ending
please hang on to yourself
thank you for coming
and thanks for the lung

let's cut it up 'til the pain goes away

General CommentThe Lawrence Arms website said this was about getting a haircut. I'm not sure if I fully believe them...

General Commenta lot of those lyrics are wrong.

"It seems we're fading kinda fast
Like the red brake lights rushing past
    This is morning, waking up
When you're still at the bar
Lurking around with the queens after dark
We've come a long way just to end up lost
    We've drifted, yeah we've drifted
and now we're drifting along, along."

    and...
"Everything on the avenue's a little more grey
And everyone's wearing just a little decay"

    and...
    "When the ship done sinks
    And the crew done drowns
    Where am I gonna do
    All my hanging around?
    This cruise is ending
Please hang on to your stuff
    Thank you for coming
    And thanks for the love"

General CommentLOL a hair cut eh hmmm maybe it's a metaphore for uhh and emo kid changing his way's so the hair cut part is about how he/she finally cut's their hair and yeah then the rest. I say this because the chrous where he say's "cut it up untill the pain goes away"
I could be completly wrong tho I don't know that's just my thought's.

General CommentIt's obviously about cocaine use. Cuting is a term asscioated with preparing cocaine for use.

"Cut it up and hand it over, I dont want to remember"

This means hes using cocaine to forget painful memories.

"this is more than waking up
when you're still at the bar"

His cocaine use is worse than alcohism.

Thats what I think the song is about, not "emo haircuts"

General CommentOdzuba is on the money. It is most definitely about coke; the lyrics make this rather apparent to anyone familiar with the drug. Except, the correct line there is actually 'This is morning, waking up when you're still at the bar'--which also ties in perfectly with cocaine usage.
