Hot Topic is a contrived identification with youth subcultures to manufacture an anti-authoritarian identity and make millions. The $8 you paid for the Mudvayne poster would be better spent used to see your brother's friend's band.

DIY ethics are punk rock
Starting your own label is punk rock
G.G. Allin was punk rock.

But when a crass corporate vulture feeds on mass-consumer culture, this spending mommy's money is not punk rock!

General CommentI"m surprised I'm the first to comment on this.

It's a great song with a straight forward meaning. Mc Lars is a genius. I'm proud of this song 'cuase the matches are in it and they are a local band here. I am now laughing looking at the ads on this page

"Punk clothing, punk jewely, punk girl clothes."

Sort of funny have those ads on this lyrics page.

General CommentGreat song it makes me laugh. However I don't agree with what's it's saying, there is no such thing as "punk rock" It's simply another label to make people believe they are "unique" and "individual" while fitting right into the stereotype.

My friend who works at Hot Topic and loves his job sent me this song. He agrees with it, actually. I do too, to a degree, but it's all bullshit really (granted, I honestly cannot remember the last time I was in Hot Topic). The shit he claims is "punk rock" is really more about the love of music than anything else.
I like all kinds of music, but in general I tend to listen to more "indie" than anything else and I still love to support my local scene. There's so much pride and the crowd is always better and I'd probably give up money for food if I good band was playing. Starting your own label is more about loving music and wanting to help bands you want to see go far get their music out there.
I'll give him G.G. Allin, though. Haha.

General CommentIf I'm not mistaken weren't the Sex Pistols one of the pioneers of punk rock?
