This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines:
"Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet"
So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other:
"I had all and then most of you"
Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart
"Some and now none of you"
Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship.
This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

“Head > Heels” is a track that aims to capture what it feels like to experience romance that exceeds expectations. Ed Sheeran dedicates his album outro to a lover who has blessed him with a unique experience that he seeks to describe through the song’s nuanced lyrics.
Okay... here's a rough attempt to translate this great song:
When you wake up one day and feel like you can't cope anymore, in the name of the lord your life they'll try to manipulate.
If you feel the fear against your skin for being a communard and wanting justice, if you give up, brother, you'll never think for yourself.
When they go ask you for the tithes at the end of the month, and the Holy Inquisition "invites" you to confess.
That's why, my friend, you have to raise your voice say you never asked for an opinion and if it's true there is God he should work from sunrise to sunset
Stand up raise your fist and come to the pagan party, there are drinks by the bonfire.
From the same condition it's not a town nor a lord, they have their clergy and we have our sweat.
If there's no bread for your people and you notice how fat the abbot is, if their virgin is dressed in gold, strip her down.
How are they going to silence the goldfinch or the canary if there's no jail or grave for the libertarian chant.
Stand up raise your fist and come to the pagan party, there are drinks by the bonfire.
From the same condition it's not a town nor a lord, they have their clergy and we have our sweat.
Stand up raise your fist and come to the pagan party, there are drinks by the bonfire.

Motherfuckers!!!
Sorry, but i already cannot agree with the line "que en el nombre del de arriba"<br /> Doesn't that mean "In the name of the above" ? In the name of the lord you implicate already the lord above, what is the common way how christians are calling god or Jesus. And "In the name of the above" - that can be interpreted different. I would at least if the lyrics or the title of a song is "Fiesta Pagana" :) - Greetz ;-)
@Elimination @Kassandra1 "Que en el nombre del de arriba" translates as "That in the name of the one above" referring to god (and feel like you can't cope anymore, that they will punish you in god's name...).
Here's a translation, this is straight from the booklet:
[Journey no.11 on the road, in Valladolid at night, they attend to a pagan celebration in which canticles and dancing, are combined with cursing against feudalism, the church and the hunger they make the people go through. All of Castile are communards!!]
Lol... This song makes me doubt... Are they really against God? Or they are just against Church? I'm really confused about their thoughts. I don't really think they are satanic... Who can say what they are...?
Aunque la canción me gusta en sí xD
Maybe their just musicians - nothing else, leaving us to riddle what they are or aren't. Probably they do not know more about paganism than the the confused guy above who red Fiesta Pagada, thank's at least not Pagoda :) Ok cabron ? :):)
Are you implying that non-christianism is satanism? They're pagans, they're against the dogmatic propaganda the church is selling you. If you wanna believe in God, that's fine as long as you don't shove it down our throats, but if you believe the church, you're being ignorant.
Pero es muy buena rola. =)
oooohh... i didnt know he screamed motherfuckers! at the end of the song! =)) very cool!
Yeah, "cabrones," the word I translated as "motherfuckers," is almost a Mägo de Oz signature. =P They scream it on several songs, and live, too.
sorry im new :) i dance to this song in my room. when i fell low. thats my brother Tony song,,,he drinks to it !!!!
to be antichristian doesnt mean they are satanic. they are not satanic they are against the catholic curch and all the bad things they have done, and how they use their faith to manipulate people. thats what i like about this band and i also like the combination of celtic music and heavy metal.
I THOGHT IT WAS FIESTA PAGADA??????? IM CONFUSED?!?!?!?
You're confused & have a reading problem :)
when you say "they are against the catholic church and all the bad thing they HAVE done" how can you be against something that isn't true anymore....the inquisition was a long time ago...so they are practically against nothing......im not trying to say that Fiesta pagana is meaningless song its just that i think jay worded it wrong or somethng..i dunno ...thing of that sort you know?? (oh and it is Fiesta pagana i already clarified that heheh)
You stopped reading the newspapers somewhere in the 14th century :) Just last about 2 years ago there were 1000s of people leaving church cause their priests were abusing children in a way nobody should & def. not a priest. And what goes on behind the Vatican walls ? I have a cousin that worked there for almost 20 years until he just quit cause he could not bear it anymore. That were the words he used (never told me in detail) but actually he loved his job. Every religion is as well big business & where a lot of money is involved there will always be the good of a few the most important instead the good of the whole community. God needs no religion. And I see you have not the slightest idea about paganism, wicca etc. No need to. But then just listen to the music or don't - but spare others with childish comments. :) Ty
