"Valentine" as written by Jessica Ware, Sampha Sisay and Timmaz Zolleyn....
I can see a hurricane tonight
It keeps me from my valentine
This voodoo's doing me harm
Woo (woo), woo (woo), racing along

But maybe this is the moment to pray, dear
But I'd rather lay by your side
'Cause millions are fighting their way here

Tell me...when did the water surround me?
And tell me...is that love in your eyes?

New Orleans will tremble tonight
With bleeding hearts and swaying lights
A very modern machine
Woo (woo), woo (woo), it's coming for me

Yeah, maybe this is the moment to say, dear
That I thought I'd have you by now
But sentiment got in the way, dear

Tell me...when did the water surround me?
And tell me...is that love in your eyes?
And tell me...when did the water surround me?
And tell me...is that, is that love?

I can see a hurricane tonight
It keeps me from my valentine
A very modern machine
Woo (woo), woo (woo), it's coming for me

And tell me...when did the water surround me?
And tell me...is that love in your eyes?
And tell me...our last night on Earth is for living
And tell me...is that, is that love?

(Woo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo)

Just tell me the truth, it makes me feel better
The love in your eyes, it makes me feel better
Just tell me the truth, it makes me feel better
The love in your eyes, it makes me feel better

(Woo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo)

    General CommentWow, no comments.
More people will hear this song and love it for the wonder that it is.
"And tell me... is that love in your eyes?
And tell me... our last night on earth is for living"
If that is not beautiful i don't know what is"

General Commentthis is SUCH a good song! so catchy as well, but what does it mean?! i personally think it is about the New Orleans Hurricane. 'I can see a hurricane tonight' 'Cause millions are fighting their way here' the main bit i think> 'when did the water surround me?' 'New Orleans will tremble tonight' just a thought...

General CommentThis song is so obvious, it refers to hurricane Katrina and people about to die in this tragedy... This song was writed before Katrina, so that make it more special...

Tell me... when did the water surround me?
And tell me... is that love in your eyes?

General Commentlol late comment but those people who claim the song refers to Hurricane Katrina, you're so totally wrong. The Delays already made comments that it wasn't it.

Anyhow, quite possibly one of the best songs on the planet

General CommentIf we interpret this as a take on love, I think we can read it as a declaration of unintentional love which appeared in the middle of an affair. Started as a physical attraction-driven romance, this relationship eventually evolved into a commited one. The singer says that he planned to sleep around with a girl but somehow he began having trascedent feelings for her and so he couldn't make love with her prior to establishing a relationship; hence the "I thought I'd have you by now/But sentiment got in the way, dear" verses.
He cannot even begin to identify the moment he fell in love, which came just like the flooding on a hurricane: "And tell me... When did the water surround me?".

Once again, I believe that not all songs have a narrative or coherent meaning, but this is my guess at this one.

General CommentThey do seem to talk about Katrina a bit in their music...... but i can see how this one wouldn't be a reference to it..... You And Me maybe.....

this band deserves so much more recognition than they're getting.

    btw deltasunlight, you're a loser
