and i know it's not to get away from me
you just need a change of scenery
so strange how everything went wrong so fast
and i hope that this confusion does not last
because these words might be too little too late,
and i am afraid that i have already lost you
now three months equals eternity, and this will be so hard
and i will long to hold you in my arms
so when you ask, "do you love me?"
i should reply, "yes most certainly"
i always hesitate, there is something lingering
and i will try harder to be all that i can be
now these words might be too little too late, and i am afraid that i have
already lost you
now three months equals eternity, and this will be so hard
i will long to hold you in my arms

General CommentI think this song is about having someone break up with you because the person feels they need to go in a different direction. As a result the person being dumped feels lost and doesn't know what happened. He just wants so badly to be back together again but hes scared that its too late and he'll never have another chance.

General Commentthe title is from the introduction to "welcome to the monkey house" by kurt vonnegut jr:
"i am six feet two and weigh nearly two hundred pounds and am badly coordinated, except when i swim. all that borrowed meat does the writing. in the water i am beautiful."

General CommentI have an eerie relation to this song, thus making it one of my favorites despite it's relatively short length.

"And I know its not to get away from me,
You just need a change of scenery
So strange how everything went wrong so fast
And I hope that this confusion does not last."

You see, I was in the hospital for about 3 and a half months dealing with back surgery, and two days before I was to be released my girlfriend of 3 years broke up with me. She ended up cheating on me (which is where I see the 'change of scenery' line coming from, from both me and the hospital walls), and the break-up was so sudden and unexpected that 'everything went wrong so fast'.. especially considering how excited I was to spend more time with her once I was finally to be released.

"And when you ask do you love me
I should reply with yes most certainly
I always hesitate there's something lingering
I will try harder to be all that I can be"

This relates to a particular fight we had in the hospital where I kind of screwed things up from there on out, and what I believe ultimately lead to what happened between us.. I won't go into details, and the lyrics aren't completely literal, but the initial concept is there. After making the mistake I made, I decided that I would 'try harder to be all that I can be'.

"Now three months equals eternity and this will be so hard
And I will long to hold you in my arms."

This reflects to two things for me, but they parallel each other. For one, it represents how badly I hated to be so confined without my sense of freedom to do as I please, as to 'hold her in my arms'. For two, it represents the three months after I was released from the hospital where I could barely get around and had to wear a backbrace for another three months.. all through this, I was longing to 'hold her in my arms', but I knew there was absolutely nothing I could do.

For these reasons, this song is incredibly special to me. When I first heard it, I was seriously amazed by the comparisons. It sounds cheesy to say, but I swear I felt Dallas Green knew my life story personally.. because of this, it helped me get through a rather tough time in my life. I can pretty much relate to most songs he's written, which is an incredible bond to have with an artist.

General Commentto me..its kinda just about missing someone..mainly cause thats how i relate to it:
"now three months equals eternity, and this will be so hard
and i will long to hold you in my arms"
im moving away for 3 months..and im gonna miss my boyfriend (and friends) sooo much.
but in other perspectives i can see it as on the verge of breaking up kinda.

General Commenti think it's about a failed relationship...the boy didn't realize that they were driftin' apart and now,he thinks, it's too late...
but he wants another chance to say everything he ever wanted, to give the girl the feeling of real love what he always disregarded but he thinks that he lost her before he could react "these words might be too little too late,
and i am afraid that i have already lost you"

    i love that song

General CommentThis is my favorite song by Dallas. It says so much from the song title to the last line.

When I was going through a tough time with my boyfriend, this song said it all. I felt like I had no one to confide in, but Dallas Green understood and could portray it while I'm at a loss when it comes to lyrics.

    Dallas Green is a genius.

    General Commentone of my faves.
i think this song is about dallas's life on the road and the effect it has on his relationship. basically, his gf left him not to get away from him so much but just to get away for a while.. or so he likes to think. and although things are kinda weird between them as she finds herself or figures things out he hopes it doesnt take her too long to figure things about because he just wants to be with her. also that he's been able to finally tell her how he feels but hopes its not too late for her to still feel the same way. and the three months equals eternity i'm guessing means the amount of time hes on the road and how that can feel like eternity when you're away from the person you love. and that he realizes that when she asks if he loves her that he should say yes before she doesnt ask that anymore but hesitates maybe because he doesnt completely feel that way or hes afraid of telling her how he feels. but despite it all he just wants to hold her after being away from her for a long time

General Commentok so this is probably totally off but this song reminds me of my last relationship. we've been broken up for three months and things ended badly with us when he told me he loved me, but was blacked out and didn't remember it the next day. lame story, but whatever.

at the time, he asked me to say it back to him and didn't really answer him
"so when you ask, "do you love me?"
i should reply, "yes most certainly"

and it feels as if we've been apart for a long time
"now three months equals eternity, and this will be so hard
i will long to hold you in my arms"

i wish there were things i could tell him
"these words might be too little too late,
and i am afraid that i have already lost you"

so ya, i think its definitely about a break up

General CommentIt's so weird how much I can relate to this song and the situation. Like really

And yes, I agree with what everyone is saying about the meaning(s) of the song.
