Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly
Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly

She gonna lie down
She gonna spread out
She's one of the few things
That makes me happy

Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly
Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly

She gonna lie down
She gonna spread out
She's one of the few things
That makes me happy

With her yellow-red eyes
That stare stare right at me
With her yellow-red eyes
That stare stare right at me

Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly
Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly Molly

She gonna lie down
She gonna spread out
She's one of the few things
That makes me happy

General CommentThis is Rob Crow, singing about one of his favorite song topics, his cat. He's got a few other songs from other bands and solo projects about his cats as well. One's by Heavy Vegetable, then a couple different solo albums, Lactose Adept and a split EP with techno artist Lesser.
Rob writes a lot of beautiful, haunting songs about absolutely everyday things, like video games, BB guns, movies and actors (Jackie Chan is a Punk Rocker from "The Incredible Undersea Adventures of Aqua Kitty and Friends is a freakin awesome song), and on and on. More often than not, the meaning of the song is exactly what the lyrics are saying. He's gotten more abstract and engaged in more mystifying lyrics as he's gotten older, notably in Pinback, his current band.
To me this song means being young, and trapped, and thankful for your tiny furball who keeps you company when everything seems to be in the toilet.
